@HockeyMan: Given that we have to work with what we have now (the suggestion to get lower may well have helped), you may still be able to improve the image without achieving it by cropping.
I think the tree and rocks on the left is too muddled/dark around the base and canopy so a mixture of your crop with some more 'shadows' lift brushed onto the tree) would make it stand out more and balance the picture differently. The light is OK on the building but not on the tree and a little harsh overall. I think it is improvable though. Maybe hike up the clarity to get more definition on the foliage too. The image is worth working on.
Shame about the P&S and jpeg though make sure you at least use non-destructive editing on it now.

A couple folks liked one of the bike shots from a couple months ago on the super tele thread, so...

Great shots people !!! ....
@ greybagel - the eyes ! ... the eyes !
@ KrisB - this is too good !
@ rschnaible - nice shot !...last month I visited the "Corbett Country" (again, that is). Anyone who has read Jim Corbett's books on jungle-lore, man-eating big cats and village life in British India can recall the stories while taking a stroll along the famous Nainital Lake, especially if it is on a tranquil evening like this ..

Avad, nice mood feeling. A great example of an image telling a story experienced by the photographer.

Avadhesh, nice pic! The name of that author rang a bell, but I had it wrong, I was thinking of a certain Ron Corbett, who wrote a book about a fishing guide in Canada that I read, on account of having lived in that same area the book was about... and your pic reminded me of going canoe fishing there! :-D

Nice low-key shot, Avadhesh. I love the blues there.
Great shadows, KrisB.
Awesome dof and bokeh, Nathen. Congrats on the D800! Your shots were some of the things keeping me from wanting to upgrade to FX (D600?). Now I'm not sure I'll resist the tempation.
Nice expression in that capture, Squamish.

Nice water pics, Eric.

@adamz - Beautiful capture!
Everyone provided great captures yet again today.
Here is a shot from a portrait shoot I did for a guy who is a local aspiring actor. He came to the shoot an unexpectedly dropped an absurd theme onto the shoot (involving angst and faux liquor in a public park). After about 20 minutes of shooting he said he was all set. I'm usually great with getting people to relax. He couldn't seem to focus so finally I put him up on the stage for our local Shakespeare in the park and made what I'm sure was a joke more absurd than his theme and the following image resulted.

I like the flower color rschnaible.
The cat makes the shot KrisB, what a painter would do.
