According to rumor, the Canon 1D Mark V is due tomorrow, and get this - it may have a crop sensor!

I would hope this rumor is wrong because seriously, with the bragging the Canon fanboys have been doing here about the Canon's video capabilities, they'll have to be pretty quiet for the next little while.
Most 1D users shoot sports and photojournal subjects and benefit from the slight crop. It gives them more range while retaining effective pixels.
But it does seem a bit strange that the flagship of the new Canon line would have that.
It will be fun to see if Canon has actual made this new camera without the AF flaws that the older model came with
I have yet to see real results from people using the new Canon 7D, not just FPS, Focus adjustment speed, but how great can the camera track and maintain focus
I am not surprised that their video mode is better, I don't know what Nikon should do, but I hope that they are finding ways to make future video feature on par with what canon has made. Funny thing that Sony a camcorder maker has done so little with DSLR video yet. Is their issues with the Sony sensor with recording video

The 1Dmk4 sucked so much they never released it and just skipped over to the 1Dmk5 ;^) Cannot owners are going to be pissed if it is another APS-H crop camera. High ISO is rumored to be as good if not better (I doubt it) than the D3S.

When it comes to AF accuracy and HIGH ISO, Nikon will always rule, so I don't think this will "steal" away from existing pro's. . .it'll be a welcome addition to the Canon camp, I know some wedding shooters with canon bodies (40D, 50D), that were CRAVING for something with less noise. . hopefully, this will sate them. . .
D3s will still rule in noise control, may not be at 11fps, but heck, it can shoot at 12k ISO with little noise. . .(sigh). . .
Well I think cannot did a good job on the 7D versus the D300S so I'm sure they'll have something to brag about. I think of it in this way, the better the 1Dmk4/5 is over the D3S, the better the D4 over everything! ;^)

Canon is definitely kicking Nikon's ass in terms of video. Non of the Nikons has yet offer Full HD and yet ALL of canon's line up does. Not to mention superior noise control and less jello effect. However, top of line for Canon is now 1DSmkIV, while nikon is still on 3's(d3s, d3x). But I doubt Nikon can pull ahead of Canon in the video front.

It's funny reading some of the comments over at the canon rumors site. They are very disappointed in this camera. Many are saying their switching to Nikon :^) Really.
So I wonder how many "photographers" are switching to canon because they hate the D3S and how many are switching to Nikon because they hate the 1Dmk4? People can be so stupid I swear :^(
well it is out and looking at the specs it is better thn what Nikon got to offer... hope to see some tests soon but its kinda disappointing at this stage
canon gets more lenses, better cameras (its questionable but its very close to call thats for sure)

why do you say it's better than what Nikon offers? In what way? I can only see 1080 HD video advantage.
Pros don't just unanimously choose Canon's video over Nikon's for no reason. And while that maybe an exaggeration on my part, I haven't yet heard of any pro who prefer Nikon's video over Canon's. Even promotional videos done on Canon's cameras seem much more refined, as if they are much more video oriented than Nikon's offer. Yeah I agree that most "pros" promote canon gear for that reason, but that's doesn't mean it's better. I'm waiting for a link to the superior 1DSmk4 you speak of.
I've already seen Vincent's new 1Dmk4 movie and I have to say I wasn't impressed with it. I'm sure jbl could of done a better job ;^)
I was referring to guys like Scott Bourne and Alex Lindsay, who are not paid by Canon what so ever. They all go with 5DMII, even buying tons of them for their company studio. Pros choose their gear carefully.
I speak of Canon's superior video quality as a characteristic, not of any specific. I haven't found direct comparison videos of comparable camera lineups just yet, and as I'm no expert in video, I can only judge the success of these device only by the reaction of others. Try as you might, you can't deny the success of canon in the video-dslr space. Canon trumps Nikon in quality, features(full HD, audio recording on all cams, no 5' limits), diversity(more models), and price. Go figure.
I use Nikon's because I like them and they work for me the way I need them to not because my fellow photogs use Nikon. I could careless if they all used canon and I was the sole Nikon user. In fact I often prefer it that way ;^) I think your arguement is very flawed and subjective. It's kinda like you saying the 7D is a better camera than the 1Dmk4 because it has more megapixels.
A camera is just a tool but too many camera "owners" use their equipment as a tool to measure their manhood instead of for taking photos. Same is true for video. Just because you can shoot with a Red One camera doesn't mean your "movies" will be better than Stanley Kubrick's work. I doubt you could really tell a 720p from a 1080p video if you didn't know which was filmed with what camera.

Still think D3s makes more sense for the wedding photographer due to FF and the 1.3x on the Canon for Sports. . .
The interesting thing will be how many will be split over the D3s 1.2 crop factor (for use in sports?) and how many will migrate to 1-DMk4 for the 1080p video. . . .

Over on the other rumors site feelings on the new 1Dmk4 are disappointing. They really were hoping for a full frame, 7D like feature rich camera :^(
Have You seen the pictures from this new Canon? I've seen this what's on their website and... well the noise handling is comparable to.... d90 :)
Yes especially the 102,400 ISO sample. It's really useless and it seems canon just threw it in to make it "match" the D3S on paper.
