Is this D3s deal worh it?

I, like some people, were a bit surprised at the high D3s price. In the UK the RRP is £4200.

A lot of companies are doing pre-order deals, like a free battery or memory card etc.

But Ive found one company that will offer a free SB-900 with a pre-order of a D3s, which will be £4199.

Now is this worth it? Will the D3s price drop quite a bit leading up to Christmas?
I was going to wait and see if I could get one cheaper from ebay japan (liek digital rev or similar), as they are a bit cheaper, but Im afraid I will get stung with import duties/tax etc

I'm really undecided and could do with some advice. I do have a SB-800, but I have been considering buying another flash for the work I do (automotive photography mainly), so this deal COULD be just for me.

Be careful with Warranty etc, I know here in Canada, Nikon will not repair a camera purchased outside Canada

Sounds like the old bait and switch game. Make sure this is from a reputable dealer. The "cheap" deals are usually too good to be true and what you end up getting is not a Nikon SB900 but a similar Vivitar flash or something like that. Or like bmxdad suggested it's grey market.

Your already spending a lot on this camera don't sell yourself short hoping to get an "awesome" deal that's probably too go to be true. The D3S will ship in late November or early December so I doubt we'll see a price drop of anykind before Christmas :^(

I was in Japan last April and found that cameras and lenses are far too expensive. The only items worth buying are accessories (Nikon filters mainly).

Shadowness, I know the margins that camera retailers make on these cameras at least here in the US, and if one was to package an SB-900 for free with the pre-order of a D3s, they'd be selling the camera for a loss, and the D3s is not a loss leader by no means.

This however does not answer your question if you should go for a D3s which is a lot of money. Although the D3s offers many improvements over your D200, I'd ask the question though how many of those improvements are you going to use and benefit from based on your work, and shooting style. Only you can answer that one. If the answer is significant, then ask yourself the same question based on upgrading to the D700 instead of the D3s and compare the two. You may find your perfect upgrade at about half the price. So many people get so wound up on the latest and greatest hype (me included) and never stop to realize they may benefit very little from the improvements.

I have decided NOT to go for the D3s, so yesterday I ordered a D3 for a good price, and it should be delivered today!

Can't wait!!
