Too much chit-chat and not enough pictures!
I guess there should be a forum rule that says no comments of any kind in the photo a day thread, Pictures only? Or how about you MUST comment on the photo above yours! People always post here without saying a single thing about the photo directly above theirs.
Actually I never understood why I'm (well I feel like I am) the only one who post photos in other threads besides the PAD. This place should be filled with photos regardless of which thread there in.
What is that monty?
No need to take it to the extremes Niko, but the text on this page doesn't really pertain to any picture.
As for always commenting on the photo in the previous post(s), then I don't always feel confident enough to post constructive criticism and I really don't like saying: "I don't know why, but I don't like your photo" or "for some reason the photo isn't working for me". I always try to comment when I really like something or I know what is bothering me. I don't think that making it compulsory to comment the picture above you will help anything, if I didn't have anything good or constructive to say, I would not post my next picture then :)
My picture is of a fence weaved of branches turned 90 degrees.
No extremes monty its just people have been talking about forum rules lately and I was being serious about limiting this thread to photo's only since this has come up before. That way if nobody ever makes a comment about someone's picture they won't feel like everyone hates it.
Don't worry I'll put a picture in this thread too
Taking the discussion to: http://nikonrumors.com/forum/topic.php?id=764&page=4
Niko - please don't go off topic, start a new thread for off-topic discussions and post a link, this is a PAD thread, so there should be more photos than conversations here
@NikoDoby- Condoleezza Rice? Accidental effect or intentional? Security scanners scrambling your memory card or is this what happens when you photograph a vampire with a digital camera?
To keep me in balance:
@monty- love the lensbaby rocks, never would've thought to take that pic myself.
@bmxdad- I like the kid's pic. I kept thinking of how to frame/crop it but he got it right--it's a different story to see the little players beneath the big lights.
@connor- such stories that bus could tell...
@mb- I see a partridge in your pair of trees (sorry for the groaner, but don't those trees look like a bird pecking at the ground?)
Lastly, taken on the Going to the Sun highway:
Hey Monty11, I like your technique used on your fence. Great bokeh too!
Thanks for the comments on my Son's picture, he is actual very proud to have a picture that he has taken posted on line
Pete
@Regulator, you got any more of those building shots stowed away somewhere? I'd love to see more of them!
I agree monty. I am not usually a fan of cityscapes, but I am a fan of nice clean lines. They always yeild some really great shots like these Regulator.
Yours looks better than my bird; due both it's color and your skill. But Kingbirds attack hawks so don't mess with me or I'll send my mob after you! :)
Great shot shutterdancer! I wish there were Cardinals out here.
@Regulator75 – there is more?
@Gentoo & shutterdancer – if you don’t mind why bird shooters tend to over saturate …
@Mcammer - I am glad someone noticed the birdie. By the way I love those misty mountain landscapes.
Same tree, different angle, Bye Bye Birdie
Thanks for the compliment Gentoo, but I'm pretty much a wannabe birder....the nikon 70-300mm VR is ok for the backyard Cardinals but as you know ,you can only do so much with it.
mb asked......."Gentoo & shutterdancer – if you don’t mind why bird shooters tend to over saturate" …
I can't speak for Gentoo mb.....but I'm a graduate of the MAKE IT POP school of photography.....nice landscape btw....but I think It needs just a touch of saturation ;>)
mb - gentoo's picture doesn't like oversaturated for me, would say it's very vivid but certainly not oversaturated, as for Your picture I like to mood, although wouldn't mind if You could bring up shadows a little bit, the right part is too dark for me
shutterdancer - as mb wrote, it's way to oversaturated
mcammer - nice capture, tweak a little bit with curves to get better contrast, I love the waterfall between trees, very eye catching
niko - finally after five months we managed to see Your portrait :) (I'm referring to Your B&W photo), love the roses BTW
Thanks adamz....maybe I need to re-clalibrate my monitor...I'm not seeing the over saturation.
adamz....have I done something to offend? First it was "shutterdancer - as mb wrote, it's way to oversaturated",and lastly it,s "for all who prefer less saturated colors below my last tiger shot"
I was just starting to enjoy this forum.....but lately I,m not feeling the love ;)
shutterdance, I've addressed this whole saturation thing before and mb knows this.
Saturation is done to taste. In other words it's personal preference how one wants colors to look. Some like colors flat, others like them to jump out and eat your face!
There is no one way to saturate, it's subjective, not objective.
The most important thing shutterdance is to be true to yourself. Some will like it, some will not, regardless what you do so make yourself happy with your work first.
The 70-300 does tend to make the colors look almost as if their bleeding. However, for those who've never seen a Cardinal, depending on their diet, they can be this red in real life as well.
Thanks Gentoo...I just noticed that adamz is from Poland, where Cardinals are not indigenous...and yes I know that they were imported to Europe long ago,but I see them on a daily basis and depending on the time of year and the lighting, they can and 99.99% of the time mostly do look like the capture that I posted....having said that ,I still might need to re-claibrate my monitor :)
Gentoo...I just saw your update before I posted this.....you and I are on the same page.
Not really fall related, but I was just messing around with some high shutter speeds tonight along with some water. I have 6 under a set in Flickr...including a setup shot.
Thanks for the complement adamz ;^) That's actually going to be my Halloween costume this year :^)
shutterdancer the saturation debate has been going on here since day one. I think the whites on adam's tiger are blown out :^)
