I'm in the market for a new walking around lens for vacations now that I've moved to full frame, and the Nikkor 28-300 VR seems like the most versatile option. Shopping around, I noticed it's out of stock at a lot of retailers. Does anyone know why? Is it a supply issue or about to be replaced?
I know NikonRumors has been expecting a new 18-300 for a while now, but since that rumor is for a DX lens, that doesn't seem like a realistic replacement for the FX 28-300.
It was just released not long ago.
It is out of stock probably because of the many jumping on the D800 (going FX again) and needing a walk around lens and pick one up. Most lenses and accessories have been out of stock with the new releases. Nothing new - it happens every time a pro series camera is released.
