Thanks for the tips re posting. I'm finally getting there. I didn't notice your post until after I got an image up, that's why there is no link back to Flickr.

I love the superbike photos, and I'm really impressed with the sharpness of your 400mm f/2.8 + TC.

I am very impressed by the images here, thanks to everyone for sharing.

Glad you found the site! I am looking forward to seeing your photo's as no doubt everyone else is too.

Thanks all, I will try to bring my skills in par with the D800 reputation. I have started wrapping my head around it compared to the D700 and I having a feel of what the beast is.

That is a beauty you got there Eric, Peely22, mcammer, Abhinav, kanuck.

For some time, bras have been collected & donated for breast-cancer fund-rising events. We all know someone affected by this terrible disease but it is hard to comprehend the scale of the losses and the impact it may have in the lives of so many. This photo may represent just "a tip of many icebergs” and I found it personally shocking.

There are probably as many countless suffering of prostate and other form cancer.
Perhaps one day with our collective effort, we will end this terrible ailment. Maybe I am being naïve but I believe we could find a solution to most deadly diseases if we were investing just a fraction of what is been invested in weapon and wars across the globe. Because of this, we can say that our mothers, sisters, daughters, fathers, brothers and sons are also victims of archaic hatred that should have no place in an advanced humanity.

It has been brought to my attention that some of my last several posts may be offensive to some people on this site. It is not my intention to make any sort of political statement here. I recently attended a World War II reenactment of a battle at Anzio. As far as any battle goes, it only works if all sides are represented. What I would like you to see is that these images are of people; they are not to represent any ideals or manifesto. I would also like to state that photography is used in many ways in our society; in the instance of photojournalism, it shows us a world that is not always sunshine and happiness. It will stir emotions within us and perhaps even cause us to take action either for or against what we see.
My apologies to any who feel offended.
To the Mods, if you feel the group is better served by removing them, please do.

    @Treckie
I did not find your photos offensive. I did find the old man in the uniform very thought provoking. I did not realize that this was from a reenactment and as such I had to ponder why he would be wearing the uniform. My thoughts went to considering the source of hatred among different peoples, and to the mindset required to hang on to attitudes long shown to have been abhorrent. I looked at his expression and tried to understand what he might have been thinking as his photo was taken. If there was a statement being made, I assumed that rather than glorifying a dark past, this photo bore a cautionary message of how easy it might be for history to repeat itself. I found the image powerful, thought provoking and relevant. ...

    Peely22 - beautiful
Abhinav - superb, such a pitty I haven't been able to see it (clouds) and likely will have no chance to do it as the next Venus transit will happen in the next century
    mcammer - nice one

Thank You Eric, What captivated me was how this man seemed to be in thought, looking through his memories and thoughts as he gazed out from the doorway. He barely seemed to notice me standing in front of him taking his picture.

benji2505: That's right, softbox above and bare flash with pink gel behind. That was the only shot where the pink one was actually behind the subject...she tends to move around a bit.

Here's another one that wouldn't stop moving. Again the focus isn't perfect. I hope the sun will come back here soon so I can go out and get some more practice with my new macro setup.

Treckie, Eric said it well for me. If you were somehow glorifying Nazi ideology I think there would be a problem. If you've read Shirer's Rise and Fall of the Third Reich, he's fairly blunt in his judgment of the German people (and the western democracies, for that matter) for allowing themselves to be duped by such an evil lunatic, even if Hitler was something of a brutal political genius.

Like Eric said, pretending that things never happened is a good way to similar things happen again. I'm loving your reenactment shots and frankly I'm just jealous that I wasn't there with my camera.

Jürgen, I really like your monkey shot, but you need to be careful about how far you push the sliders in lightroom. It looks like you might have brought fill light up too far—see how the out of focus background objects seem to have a dark halo around them? It's just something to be aware of.

Treckie, your shots are not offense - Here is a photo of a set that I created on April 29th of this year. On this day (April 29) in 1945 Dachau was liberated by the allies. A day that we should all remember and pass along to the next generation.

Thanks Jonnyapple. I am learning. Comparing the original with the version after PP, I maybe should not have touched it at all. I did it only for the sake of prcticing lightroom. My intend was, to bring the fraction of blue in the sky better out. The one thing which limits working in lightroom is the lack of a decnet size monitor. I am travelling only with my office notebook, which has a small and crappy screen.
Thanks again for your advise, please keep it coming.

Great capture rschnaible. Would love to see the entire set.

If you double click on the image in PAD it will take you to the photo on my photostream. On the right side of the photo, there is a link to the "set". You can click and view it. It is a 3 photo set.
