    Wow, what an impressive beginning to the month!!!
    @msmoto - great capture of a slice of Americana
    @spraynpray - love the colors
    @El_Pickerel and Pierre - love perspectives that highlight geometric patterns and symmetry
    @TaoTeJared - beautiful capture of a breaking day. Lens flare intentional or not, it is a great composition.

    At risk of repeating what everyone else said already, last month broke both quality and quantity records for PAD :D The pace is that it becomes hard to comment on em all. =/

    Well, I am now up in Wisconsin for about four weeks, each weekend at Road America. This event is the Superbikes, very quick, nearly as fast as MotoGP. And a learning time for the olds lady.... here is the KTM currently 10th in the standings, ridden by Chris Fillmore coming through Turn SIx.

    IMG_1973_tonemapped.jpg

    Tonemapped (HDR) from a single image.
    Not the best foreground, but it's all I had at the time. :/

    @cyclekraft

    It's the sky that makes that one for me, fantastic. Would be interested to learn a bit more about how that was done in post.

    @msmoto, @JFRas and @Postman....thanks for the compliments. I was hesitant in posting this one because I was very unhappy with the foreground. It lacked any interest IMO. The sky is what made it worthy of keeping from the garbage can.

    To answer your question about PP, I used Photomatix Pro (tonemapping) to create a HDR file from a single image. I then used LR4 to dodge and burn and reduce noise. The problem with Photomatix HDR processing is the amount of noise it leaves behind. LR4 does a fairly good job of cleaning it up, but there's still remnants of noise and other garbage left behind. If you pixel peep the grass on the left you'll see the after effects of what too much HDR processing can do. I also added a slight green color gradient to the lower third of the image. About 10-minutes of work.

    Newbie here, I have been browsing the POD thread and was moved to join by the great and fun photos. MSMOTO, you must have gotten goosebumps seeing that shot in your viewfinder! Speaking of goosebumps, wow, the passing train shot was brave and worth every bit of effort, nice. So many wonderful shots, I felt like I was at the classic car show, and almost waiting for the alien pod in the flower to burst forth, ha ha.

    @Bland Thanks.... he was actually looking about 200 yards down the track toward turn 7. Having done a little of this kind of thing....one looks at the entry to the next turn as you are hitting the apex of the one you are in. I will be posting the entire set of photos on Flickr about Monday....

    Fields of tulips. Something like 70-80% of the world's tulips (bulbs and flowers) are grown in the fields of the Netherlands, like this. Solid rows of color, you can barley make out the individual flowers.

    But still an incredible shot and a freaking unbelievable camera nonetheless. Regardless of his speed and the windscreen you can still tell the color of his eyes if you magnify the image. I don't need a D4, but the WANT is growing fast!

    Amazing catch, msmoto.

    Its not dead, it just didn't move long enough to get the batch of photos. In case anyone was wondering about that. :]

    @msmoto : awesome shot, stunningly sharp, and wow, the detail.
    @VelocityStop : nice one, it looks slightly tilt-shifted. Might just be me :P Why the ND filter?
    @SquamishPhoto: I had a bad experience with a caterpillar. A fuzzy one like that fell onto my neck. Unfortunately for me, it was poisonous. I wound up with a bad case of the hives for two days.
    @TTJ : Haha, the kid looks uncomfortable, but it's really touching.
