The Nikon School is coming! I've gone several times before and always had a good experience. The fee includes lunch and, of course, there is a showing of new Nikon goodies.

I haven't attending the 2nd day session - digital work flow. Anyone been to day 2? Worth it? Still get lunch?

What do you mean it is coming? I got a free Nikon School course when I purchased my D40x in December 2007 and also paid for a 2 month course.

You got the two-day Nikon School class for free? Not bad, - they usually charge me about $100 per day.

The Nikon School USA is geared more towards beginners and showing off Nikon gear. At least the first day anyway. The second day is a little more useful if your more familiar with your Nikon camera. It covers flash and software uses.

I'd recommend joining a local photo club and getting more 1 on 1 instruction.

We have two local photo clubs in the Dallas area - The Dallas Punch and Cookie club and the Plano Photoshop Players club. I suppose if you've never been behind a camera there might be some advantage to joining the clubs...otherwise I can get cookies at home.

Yes the Nikon school is aimed at beginners, but I've always learned someting new.

Why would someone pay 100$ to be showed off nikon gear? Can't you just go to the store and speak with a selling person?

    Rip off.

Well the Nikon reps are much more knowledgeable then the geeks at Best Buy that's for sure. But it's not just about showing off Nikon goodies. It's a fun meeting place for fellow Nikonians and it's even more fun when jbl shows up with his new canon 5DmkII ;^)
