So you want me to spend $1500 MORE than a D300 for a "pro" DX body because DX lenses are cheaper?!!!

And you don't think the D3 hasn't been a BIG SELLER for Nikon?! That's why the store shelves are full of them because there is no demand whatsoever, right! :^)

Really, whatever your smoking I want in on it! :^)

"Gentoo - IMHO there's no need for You to sell Your d90 in order to get d300s, I would hold up for d400, as there's not too much difference between d90 and d300s, at least not as significant as the price is - I would save for 200-400/4 as this will improve Your pictures more (and for the money You would spend on new d300s You would have 1/3 of Your dream lens)"

Very good points adamz. I may have another way in the future to get that lens though but yeah, I would get some awesome shots with that.

I agree Gentoo, but for my use metering for manual lenses is important, so the D300s is worth upgrading to. Regarding ruggedness, my D90 still feels and works like new, but I don't abuse equipment either. My expectations of camera body life are different than in the old film days. If I get 3-4 years of useful life from a body, I'm satisfied.

If you want save for a 200-400/4, at over $6,000 you've got a lot of work to do. Actually, it's on my wish list with a Wimberley head on a Gitzo 3531 with a TC 1.7, a Really Right Stuff Adapter and a cover, etc. for $8,294.70. Mmmmmmmm

Ted, that sounds like a great set up. The only way I can get new stuff is to sell some older stuff then use something else to add to it. Saving for the 200-400 isn't a reality in the foreseeable future. I will get it one day but any money sitting around will not last right now lol

My money just bought a chicken for dinner. The long lenses must wait. (Not complaining, the chicken was perfect and the wine was excellent!)
