When I've perfected my technique, I plan to print out three with complementing colour schemes to put on my diningroom wall :)

Here's one for today!
It is raining, I am like a caged animal, so I have been doing stupid things with light bulbs.
Posted 4 years ago # -
And here's on of mine - if You will like it, will post more of my tigers shots.

art - I love your photo, the colors and the sky really stands out, I also like the way the road/river makes my eyes to follow from bottom left to top right corner of the image. As for cons what are the white dots in the bottom of this picture.

Adamz & Tai Thanks again for your comments, I hope I can keep it up !
The white dots in my last posting, I have to be careful how I explain this without starting a flame war but its an old English joke that a Welsh farmers best friend is his sheep ! :-) sheep are about the only farm animal that can thrive in these inhospitable surroundings.Posted 4 years ago # -
I've been slacking for the last couple days. Here's one I shot when I got my 35mm DX (my current go-to lens, it's loads of fun for casual stuff).

I should be traveling through this Welsh countryside this morning though the weather will be a little more seasonal but not as dramatic, this shot was taken near Dinas Mawddwy looking in the direction of Dolgellau.

My wife and I are staying for a couple of nights in Portmeirion,
http://www.portmeirion-village.com
This is not a sales pitch but the village is quiet unique and may just be of interest, it was the setting for the location work for Partick McGoohans TV series ' The Prisoner "
If an internet connection is available I will try to post something from there during the next couple of days.Posted 4 years ago # -
Art, your picture in Flickr is set to pirvate.

willis, for me there's too much shadow on Your picture, as You really can't see the dragon's face. although, I like the perspective created by the low angle. also, one more think which distracts me a lot is the white exit/entrance in the background
art - once I was in Scotland, I even got myself the ship sha..ing t-shirt, so I guess I know this joke (if it's really a joke :)), anyway really nice composition and great picture

monty11 Thanks not had much experience of Flikr as you can probably tell, I have amended the post to show another image from the same area, hopefully that will work.

adamz, thanks, I was hoping the comment would be seen as a joke as I spend quite a lot of time in Wales and have many Welsh friends.Posted 4 years ago # -
art - another great photo, I guess that I will have to go and visit the land of Your small white fellows :) as the country side looks gorgeous, really nice composition, You can work a little bit on levels to emphasize the sky, and maybe clone out the bushes in the center of the frame, but truly it's a nice composition. GOOD JOB!

Adamz: I think your right on both accounts. I was more interested in the lens when I shot this than the composition. If I had it to reshoot, I would move the dragon to the left just a bit. This would put more of the dragon into the sun-beam, and also block out the light coming through the door. If I do it just right, it might even rim-light my subject which could look cool. The good news is that I shot this in my living room, so I can always take another crack at it. I'll try and re-post a better version later today when I get home.

Missed yesterday, but today I'm back with a picture from my 35mm f/2 AIS with a PN-11. The combo gives me somewhere around 2:1 or 3:1 reproduction, but is useless for most things as the lens has to be right on top of what you're shooting.

Here's one for you. The colour sucks though. Not sure how it changed so much between the RAW to jpeg (Lightroom) to www journey. Hmmmm. Anyway, the theme's still there, even though the plot isn't what I had in mind.

this is a test for embedded images:

This PS job was created by a NR reader - we will have a NikonRumors Forum banners competition soon.

As you have probably noticed, I was able to embed some of the photos in this thread. Don't freak out, I did not steal them - they are still on your server, I just linked to them.
You can also link to a photo directly by using the following example (for now only png, gif or jpeg are accepted):

In the quotes you insert the URL of the photo.
Sorry, this is probably not very user friendly but it is a quick fix. As far as I know dpreview operates on the same principle.
The above method does not work for flickr for now.Posted 4 years ago # -
You can almost hear them

(I've no idea how to use this backtick system ... ordinary code would have been so much easier [img][/img])

monty11 - nice dogs, and nice composition, however there's something wrong with sharpness around the nose and eyes - as far as I can see the focus was set on the dogs collar - next time try to use bigger depth of field or focus on eye (as a general rule when You shoot pictures of animals the eyes must be razor sharp)
floyd - nice macro shot - great focus on the center part (the effect is almost unbelievable, as the center just jumps out of the pictures - love it), You can try to crop it a little bit (square, to include only the main part of the flower). Anyway, really nice photo!!!

Just a test to see if this embedding system works, not working for me so back to just posting the link, if someone can help me with what I should put before and after the URL I would be most grateful, thanks.

adamz, I agree with you 100% ... the eyes are the first thing anyone looks at, but the emotion in the picture and perhaps the additional emotion that associates with the situation was a bit too overwhelming for me to let the lack of eye sharpness ruin the picture. In that situation the light was also bad and I didn't dare use a higher ISO as I have a D40x. I could try to use a separate sharpness mask on the eyes and see where that gets me :)
@Art ... DON'T STOP :))))

I was expecting to get some film back to post here, but it hasn't arrived yet! Instead my pic for the day is a butterfly held by a young girl taken on my Nikkor-S 50mm f/1.4 at f1.4. I took this back in march at the museum of natural history here in NYC

Art, I still cannot embed the flickr images and other dynamic pages - don't worry for now, I will go and manually try to fix the links on each posts until I find a better solution. This forum (as well as the NR blog) is open source, so I either have to right the code myself (and I can probably do it, but I am not a programmer) or have to wait until someone else writes it.
