Hello All,

Me back here for another what lenses combination for D7k.

I currently have 35/f2.8, 85/f3.5 (macro), 12-24/f4 (tokina). My photography is more about indoor wedding kinda gathering photography, where people are fun mood, dance and singing party included. Once in a while macro photography. The current combination of lenses seems to be limited, as I don't have a telephoto lens.

I'm satisfied with results from 35mm lens but I'm lost when I have to cover around 40-75mm. Also for low lighted/indoor ceremonies I'm looking for faster lens as f3.5/f4 seems to be slower. Please share your suggestions.

35mm 1.8 DX

50mm 1.8 G or 1.4 G

Old Nikon 35-70mm 2.8 AF This is a prior generation professional lens.

Tokina 11-16mm 2.8 AT-X

Tokina 11-16mm 2.8
Sigma 17-50mm 2.8 (remarkable lens, oddly, no QC issues)
Nikkor 80-200mm 2.8

You need a good flash in my opinion, no lens will be fast enough.
85mm has to be long enough indoors for everything, I only have an 50 and I find it fine for portraits on dx..

+1 for flash. More reach lens, the 85mm 1.8 (newer or older version) is great for candids.

You've got 12-24mm f/4 covered (don't know why people are recommending the 11-16mm unless you want f/2.8).
I'll suggest either the Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 if it's in your budget or get the older 35-70mm as was recommended above.
I like the idea of the 85mm f/1.8 too. If you want more flexibility for candids from across the room then maybe the 80-200mm f/2.8.

Thanks all for the reply, I was on a trip and hence could not reply immediately.

I do have 35mm f1.8 DX lens (f number mistake in 1st post). 24-70mm is out of budget, I was more looking for a 2.8 lens from 15 to 60 or 70mm that I could use for low lights. None seems to be around $500-600

35-70mm is a very good suggestion. I'm looking at ebay for this lens.

Any suggestions for telephoto? I was thinking about 80-200 f2.8 push-pull version as it is cheaper, lack of VR will cause any problem while shooting at low light and the subject is moving, like dance performance?

VR will only compensate for vibrations caused by your hands. If your subject is moving, then VR is not needed. Moreover, if your shutter speed is higher than 1/250s, VR has no effect and might even degrade image quality.
