Thanks, Thomas, for the update and photos which make me even more envious of those who have received their D4's. The first photo is so sharp at ISO 12800 that I can see you were not wearing a shirt when you took it. Whoops! Maybe that new camera is TOO good! As a photographer mentor of mine used to say, "Watch those reflections!" ;-)

There's a guy on the Adorama site who says he got his and he ordered on the 8th. Aren't there people here who ordered earlier than that who are still waiting?

Good luck, it's worth the wait ;-), and by now Adorama may have served all the "NPS" folks first so you might not have to wait 5 months.

This is exactly what I hope our exercise on here will prevent! If non-NPS people who ordered after January 6th from Adorama are getting their D4's ahead of those of us who ordered on the 6th and still have not received them then Adorama has a serious breech of their own policy of "first come, first served" and I think a lot of people on here will be highly upset (starting with me!). But before we rush to judgement, are we sure the fellow who ordered on the 8th and just received his D4 is NOT NPS?? If anyone is able to clarify that point, then we will know for sure if we have a problem.

You can read the post on this page http://www.adorama.com/INKD4.html look for the button that says "See 46 Questions" just under the heading "Ask a Question" Doesn't seem like this guy who ordered on the 8th is NPS. Also note the date of his post, May 19. So five days before that is May 14.
Please tell me I'm wrong about this post.

I think the Adorama poster typed an "8" when he meant to type a "6," or he didn't remember the date correctly.

Hi, Folks, Just so no one gets upset, I waited nearly 70 years for my D4. So, I do know what this is like. Actually about a year and a half ago, when the D4 was "supposed" to come out, I did not order a D3s, but thought I would wait the two or three months for the D4. So, I am just here to tell you the wait is worth it. For those who do not look at Photo-A-Day, go and look at the one I posted of the gal at the race track, which I captured while shooting race cars with a telephoto... The ISO performance is great. And maybe this will say to you who are still waiting..."Hey, this is worth waiting for" because it is.

Just received the now usual every two or three week notice that my D4 is still on backorder at Adorama so I am guessing it will not be this week! In fact, I believe it has been close to two weeks since anyone on this forum reported that they had word from Adorama that their D4 order was being fulfilled. Adorama must not be getting very many D4's from Nikon which makes one wonder just how close their relationship with Nikon really is.

The D4 should be delivered tomorrow May 30. The Memorial Day holiday slowed it down a bit. I'm very excited, refreshing the UPS tracking page every hour, looking for that magical "Out for Delivery" status.

I guess we are living the Trickle Down Theory for real here. I got my "We're sorry for the wait." email on Monday, so probably nothing this week. But then again, I ordered on the 8th, sooooo much later than the 6th.
I am overjoyed to see people receiving their D4s, at least the trickle is trickling. Please keep the camera pr0n coming!
(Side note: Does anyone else have a problem logging into NR with Firefox? I have to use Safari. Known bug perhaps? This is true on two machines, weird.)

It came. And it came with the XQD card and reader. Hoooooraaay!
I ordered at 9:33 p.m. PST on January 6, 2012. The order volume was probably very heavy that day. Orders on subsequent days will probably seem to be filled at a faster pace because the orders were timed further apart.
Incidentally, the battery takes a maddeningly long time to charge for the first time.

Read your post shortly before noon and immediately clicked on the link to BestBuy.
The D4 went into my basket immediately but I called the local store and asked for confirmation that they could get the camera. The store clerck checked the inventory and got confirmation for a delivery date of June 6. Then started the process of sale over the phone. I made to the store by 12:30 and got the transaction recorded on the cash register receipt at 12:40pm. Delivery to the store in Morgantown for June 6.
Just this morning I called the local Nikon dedicated shop who once again stated that they could not get the camera. I have had a standing order with Adorama since January 20.Posted 11 months ago # -
If anyone is interested, Schiller's in St. Louis, MO has some in stock, just received mine from them, XQD card and reader included, plus free shipping. I was told they had a few.

However, having said that, when I go back to the main menu of NRF, it shows me "logged out".
So, I just reload the page and I am logged in. ??? Some have found pushing F5 works.

Just to add another data point, I ordered my D4 on January 6th and so far have only seen the regular "still on back order" emails. One thing a bit different is that during the long wait, my credit card expired. I called to be sure that I didn't lose my place on the wait list if I updated the card info. I was told (in writing) that I would not. They put through a $50 test charge with the new card info. I suspect that I will never see that $50 again, but hopefully one day I will see the D4!
