Much respect to B and H for doing this. I have visited countries that observe similar traditions and not only is it spiritually soothing to the soul, but also mentally soothing since most everyone is closed that it allows quiet time with family, friends and self.

    No disrespect intended, Henry.

I LOVE the fact that B&H and other organizations stick to their principles. Thank you and B&H for being a great example.

In this instance, I would have purchased at B&H, except for my antsy behavior, and then subsequently I learned that shipping prices would be FAR less with Amazon vs anyone else. Go figure. (It's my burden for living in Alaska - I have grand aspirations for reasonable shipping rates to AK, but alas, I won't hold my breath.)

    Cheers all!

2nd on that. It is refreshing to see.

Helen we are hearing and understanding you. And no one is asking for your "supply information from Nikon" information at all. We all know no company is going to give that out and that is not what we are looking for. To believe that Nikon or any manufacture cares if customers know what spot they are standing in the que is makes zero sense to us.

The only thing I can see is if each of the outlets show Nikon they have 1,000 on their wait list and one has 5,000, then the store with 5,000 may get more cameras sooner than the others. And as Donald illustrates, that is company-centric, not customer-centric.

As I said, I ordered shortly before noon on January 6. It shipped from Adorama on Tuesday May 15 and arrived in Washington, DC today, May 17. Fortunately for me, it DOES include the XQD card and reader.

The suspense is mounting for me! My order acknowledgement email is January 6, 2012 9:33:59 AM PST, which would make it 12:34 PM EST. I'm a little more than half an hour later than clyde. I'm sure the volume of orders that day was very high. Nevertheless, my hopes are soaring that I'll get a ship notice soon...

Thanks, Clyde, for the update. And congratulations on receiving one of the world's finest (and, it appears, rarest) cameras!

I too ordered a D4 on Jan 6th from Adorama. I am not NPS.
My camera's order has been filled and I now have a shipping date as of yesterday. The ETA is Tues May 22nd. There is light at the end of this tunnel.

I know of one Canadian dealer that has them in stock. First come/first served. They had two left as of yesterday. They delivered my D4 a month ago and I'm not NPS.

I got word last night that my local dealer has a wait list of just 15 for the D4 and expects to cover those shipments shortly. He admitted that the D800 wait list is about 100 - and they are only getting 4 units per shipment. He also said the D800/D800E list is growing as additions are exceeding fulfillments.

Nothing new since Thomas R posted five days ago that he had a firm ship date for May 22nd on one. They seem to be coming in on a weekly basis, though we have no way of knowing if that is in fact true or, more importantly, how many cameras they receive in a weekly shipment. Hopefully after a few more people report receiving theirs, we can get a better idea of how many and how fast they are coming in. I realize this is all very unscientific analysis, but at least it is something! Amazing to think that many of us ordered on January 6th and we are coming up on six months shortly without any concrete information on availability except what we have generated here in this forum.

I recommed the nikon d5000 battery grip, it is used good with the camera.

1.This Battery Grip for 400D 350D XT Xti makes photographing in a vertical position much easier and provides a better handling of your camera especially when you are using heavy lenses.

2.The battery grip provides more energy for your camera than a normal storage battery would.

3.The battery compartment holds either two lithium batteries (original or third-party manufacturer) or a battery magazine for six AA Alkaline batteries.

4.It is also equipped with a vertical-grip shutter button, dial, AE lock/FE lock button, and AF point selector button to enable exposure time setting etc.

How glorious, Thomas R! Thank you for including the picture. Do you have any record of the time you placed your order on January 6?

Congratulations, Thomas! You give us all hope for the future. It will be interesting to see if anyone gets a notice this week for a shipment soon. I got so excited because an email titled "Your Adorama Order #XXXXX is on its way!" appeared in my in box last evening. Turns out it is for the Sony XQD card I ordered (32GB) at the same time I ordered the D4. XQD card reader? Still on backorder! I guess the good news in this is that the XQD 32GB cards are starting to ship. Now if I just had the D4 to use it in......

    *sigh*

    *sigh" indeed.

I ordered the XQD card reader, two XQD cards, an EN-EL18 battery and battery chamber cover shortly after ordering the D4. There they sit on my shelf, all dressed up with no place to go.

I could have sworn that I saw that you could just outright order a D4 from Adorama yesterday. I kind of pissed me off that i waited 4 months and now they're in stock?

    Nikon D4 shipping from Adorama
    Ordered Jan 6 @ 12:34pm Eastern time
Just got UPS tracking # on May 23 @ 6:18pm Eastern time.

Look like Adorama got at least two D4s.

Shipped via UPS 3-day on May 23. Arrived May 24 near San Francisco. Not sure why I got 1-day service. Not complaining. :-)
The D4 included a "QD-H16" 16GB XQD card and reader.

Thanks, guys, for keeping us posted. So we are up to just before one o'clock on the first day of order. I ordered at around six pm that day so I would think I probably have another month to wait at this rate.

    Enjoy your cameras!

So, I guess so far, only orders made on Jan 6th have shipped. Anyone else buy on the 7th or 8th? I placed my order---oh so late---on the 9th, hey, that's still six months ago. But sure glad to see the photo from Thomas R! Thx!

And me too, I've got a 32GB QXD card, two readers, the mic and the WT-5 sitting here waiting to party. Thanks to everyone for the info, makes the waiting (somewhat) more bearable.

First, congratulations... i know you are very happy. It is a wonderful camera. And, it is my understanding the cameras being shipped after yours are no longer coming with the QXD card or reader.... Of course, I have an extra of both as I ordered these with my D4 back in whenever.

Have fun. I suspect it will amaze you!

My observations thus far are: incredible low light capability, and blazing fast AF.
It makes different sounds too (not that important) that differentiate it from my D700.

    Here is a test image at ISO 12800 ISO 6400 f1.4 1/60
