Two guys use a D3 and a 50mm lens at f/5.6 to take 1,200 photos of the Milky Way. In yer face Hubble Telescope.
I will now attempt to make an 800mp photo of the candy bar next weekend :^)

You can find a desktop version at this link. The photographers were Serge Brunier and Frédéric Tapissier. This was for the GigaGalaxy Zoom Project which is part of the European Southern Observatory (ESO).
