Not a prediction of the past Mr. Obvious, Why bother replying if you have nothing to say.

He is not predicting the past. He is using the latest models as markers and trying to fill in the gaps. Here is how Thom Hogan just did it today.

DX: D3200, D5200, D7200, D8000 (the D8000 being an integrated vertical grip pro caliber DX). The price points are okay, but there are a considerable number of missing lenses to keep DX living healthily (see next article).
FX: D400, D800, D4 (the D400 being an entry FX body that replaces the D700's current position in the lineup).

Thom didn't give us mp ratings but notice he added a D8000 and made the D400 FX. Thom's idea of a D8000 is the "mini-D4" or "D4 lite" I have been urging.

I am suspect about having the same 24mp sensor in the bottom and the top of the DX line.

I just couldn't resist putting some humour... Sorry if it bothered you.

I have been reading predictions like this for years, they probably account for more than half of all post at NR and at the end, they don't mean much and have very little impact, obviously, Nikon do not read them. Anyway, keep throwing numbers if you like, you may get lucky...

    Wish you the best…

Its called a discussion, not meant to sway Nikon, only a fool would be posting here hoping Nikon reads it. Why in the hell do you read these and respond negatively if you don't want to enjoy an open forum discussion, don't

I saw the humor, not offended, just thought the idea shouldn't die so quickly. As I showed, other respected camera experts are doing the same sort of speculating.

We are likely to get a lot of answers from Nikon this year.

Where will the D400 finally be placed? Top of DX line or bottom of FX line?

If D400 moves to FX what will be the top of the DX line? D7000 replacement or something new?

It will be an interesting year to watch unfold!

It is ok for people to guess about what will happen in my opinion.

Never a D400 DX If we see it it will be a bare bones entry level FX

    No more D700 D710 D700x The D800 killed that

D4x will be something special, custom chip but not over 24MP. Will be able to take nude's of fully dress people.....

Now there you go. The best Nikon yet. Can take nudes of fully dressed people. I am getting one of those. It will sell tons, and to the TSA agents also! Could it be done? How about with a senor that reads body heat?

Ouch, perhaps very depressing, you may find "people" to be much better-looking dressed ;->

I guess D600 will be the D700 replacement That still leaves some speculation if there will be a D400 top of the DX line

The D600 number is not yet set in stone. I still would not be surprised at a low basic FX call D400.
