That is sooo wrong - but damn funny.
This is a fictitious story.
That apologist for B&H is poking fun of all the folks who felt what B&H did was unethical. Of course people with no morals feels that what B&H did was totally ok, and "just business".
That was absolutely hilarious, and thanks for the good laugh.
I thought this was the funniest thing I've seen in ages. And I'm happy that Greta has the camera, although I don't watch her on TV. Heck, I don't even own a television machine. Maybe if I did I could figure out what all this hate is about...
For the record, I have not received my BandH pre-order yet, which is causing me some difficulty with my client who has already paid for it!
What we may not be aware of is that the big, BIG, BIG companies most likely have pre-orders at B & H for cameras before we even know the camera is being introduced. It is not as if Greta suddenly decided she wanted a D800, but more like the purchasing agent told B & H, we want five of these new NIKONs which replace the D700 and if you will just let us know the release date we will get a purchase order to you. And the idea is just like the NPS folks who got their new cameras days to weeks before most of us. There is a pecking order. And most of us are unfortunately not at the top.
So, while the article and very well done bogus note are funny as could be, serious they are not. We can always laugh about these things. And wonder where our camera, lens, whatever is!

Most of us still don't have theirs... You are one of the few lucky... We are probably still months away... Especially with the unethical stuff going on...
You know it is a fluke i have a D4. But when you are on the phone with B & H at the very moment they decide to go with pre-orders, well, it just happened. I had filled out a very negative report of a chat, because initially Amazon, Adorma, Ritz, had been open for pre-orders, and when I was called about this, during the call they went live and so I was at the top of the list in a way. Purely a fortuitous event.
But, I am trying to give some back by the photos I am posting on PAD, with the extreme shooting conditions and high ISO so everyone can see what it does. More to come.
The rather large demand may be the biggest ever for a camera, and with the catastrophic conditions which have plagued the manufacturing in Japan, it just turns out a lot of folks have to wait. And, believe me, I used to wait up to three months just to get a single lens until I found out a local dealer was ripping me off.
Let me know if anyone wants me to shoot something special....

That happens not to be the case. It may be the Defense Department or the Pentagon gets advance word from Nikon USA but otherwise we know when Nikon USA tells us and we tell you just as soon thereafter as we're permitted to do so.
And, for the record, we sent Greta the coffee mugs but the D800 came to her directly from Nikon USA and this has no impact on any B&H customer's spot in the queue.

Haha, wow I did not realize that's how you already had your D4!
I completely accept Mr. Posner's statement at face value but it's also easy to see how a lack of transparency as to the depth of B&H's list could start such speculation.
