I read on another board from somebody who bought the D300s. He used it one day to check it out then put it down. When he picked it up the next day the battery was dead. The camera was in the off position so he didn't think he drained the battery that way. He put a new fully charged battery and when he picked up the camera the next day he had the same problem. I know the D300s just got on the market this week so I was wondering if it was an isolated problem.

Uh oh, let's hope it's just an isolated case.
On which forum did you read this?

If it's true then Nikon's quality control has been pretty spotty lately.

shivaswrath - I don't know what's on with the d200 and battery issue, sure it's not as good as d90/d300 and any cmos camera, but I can take around 900 pictures on a single battery with turned on VR

I really don't think that you should be really worried about one isolated case and if it were a widespread problem then you would be able to read about it everywhere.

I have shot several hundred pictures and after around the first 200 the battery was depleted approximately 15%. I shot in high speed mode last night about 100 shots plus a couple of videos and I'm barely off of full now. Mine has set idle a couple days (not in a row) since I got it over a week ago with no noticeable battery depletion from 'just sitting'. Hope that helps.
