Was in NYC the last couple days for folk dancing... while at a restaurant in Manhattan I saw someone walk by with a 200-400mm f/4 VR2. Took every ounce of my strength to not chase them down and ask if I could try it out...

Anywho, guess what? More Iceland. Where the continental plates are tearing themselves apart. Europe on one side, North America on the other. What you can't fully convey was the stillness here... wind blocked by the depth of the fissure, and all other sound muted by the snow. Not a soul around (I'd made a wrong turn looking for a waterfall). Incredible feeling.

@studio460.... how about posting one of these on Flickr at around 8-10 MB size so we can really take a look....? I would like to see how the D800 looks in real life with a 20" x 30" posting on Flickr. Thanks

Are you still in that area? You could have gone to B and H, they probably would have let you test one.

No problem, as soon as I re-wire the CAT6 to my main computer (100' cable run through the entire length of the house just broke at the router). All I have now is a POS netbook, which I can't really do anything with but browse the web.

The tires looks like they are made of fabric Bland, perhaps lots of weight in the trunk.

Started the month with a powerplant, thought I should finish with one as well. Again, no political statement, its all about photos.

Just a note to posters on PAD. I like to go to Flickr and see the huge files... 2000x2000 or even larger. Some of the stuff posted here is so nice, to see it super sized is even better.....so, now I have said it... Thanks, Tommie

And, the posts here get better all the time. I am still worrying about El_Pikerel falling into a crevice under that snow.... unless you had a couple folks and were tethered....

The butterflies.....OMG for sure.....

Let me see if I can find an old VW bus somewhere......

@Bland - I love how you captured that car... the movement in the rear tires is incredible.
@soldado - Some real character in those VWs!
@studio460 - Really like the tunnel capture.

Nay, plus I think they are closed on Saturdays. I was with friends, and dinner was between two halves of a dance, and getting back to the dance was somewhat more exciting than testing out lenses. Crazy, right?

I wouldn't mind posting bigger but I do not have a paied account and I have limits on size and number of visible pictures I am allowed. I already have 3 different accounts. Beside, my Internet uplink is rather tiny and shared with my wife that takes most of it so full size all the time is rather prohibitive.

Also, there are charks out-there and posting full size basically means abandonning copyright rigts.

I am sure others are in the same position and have the same concerns.

If you have specific requests, I will be glad to put it.

El_Pickerel, the last pic you posted on the last page reminded me of the snowy battle scene in "The Empire Strikes Back" then lo and behold Regulator75 posts the pic above. Freaky.

Here's one I posted on another board but don't think I did here.

D7000, Rokinon 14mm f/2.8, 1 of my daughters. Shutter speed was like 1/20 so I got a little motion blur in her feet.
