    Hi,
i try to develop a opensource application for remotely controlling your digital camera.
I'm at beginning of this project i hope to find some help and ideas on this forum.

    For download : http://nccsoftware.blogspot.com/p/download.html

    Features
    - tethering
    - remotely control camera basic properties
    - remotely take picture
    - manage multiple profiles
    - raw support
    - histogram & photo metadata view
    - timelapse
    - review in fullscreen
    - exposure bracketing
    - live view (check the supported cameras)
    - generate timelapse movie (Xvid video codec needed)
    - focus stacking
    - webserver (using smart phone to control application)

Isn't well tested yet.., it was tested only using a Nikon D5100 but should work with other NIKON DSLR, but i need some reports about if working or not with other type of cameras.

Any idea or bug report it is welcomed .
    THX

Looks interesting. I'll download and try it on a D5000.

As soon as I get my D800, I will have a look at the source, is it in Java? Eclipse project?

Would be nice if You asked admiin/mods to post links to Your project. Your account is still here as I believe You are not doing this stuff commercially, but anyway would be polite to ask before posting - PM me or admin.

If I may, he is doing "us" (if you allow me to use this term) publicity by having a link back here in his project home page...

Just FYI, the profile has his home page and one can see it is for PC users. The issues adamz is raising are fairly often real concerns as last week a photo link by a new user opened a pop up which was a commercial site in Germany. I called the user on this and they apologized but just the same, this stuff can get out of hand so quickly.

The fact dukusi has not replied from Romania, might suggest some language difficulties as well. At least it is not a Nigerian site, ha, ha, ha, where I get many responses for items I have for sale....

I totally understood and agreed with adamz decision, without rules, there is chaos. I sometime report spammers too. I was merely reflecting on his opened “would be polite to ask before posting” gesture further enhancing that it was most-likely not a commercial site.

I did not intent in any way to criticise the decision being taken, sorry if it sounded like that.

as dukusi contacted me through PM and IMHO he is doing a really good job, here's the link to his Nikon control software, released under GNU project: http://code.google.com/p/nikon-camera-control/

I have bad news this application is designed for MS windows so i don't see any way to port to mac or ios.

D3k works (almost 100%) now... in timelapse, the first frame is ok but none of the others in the sequence fire. Going to look into it on Monday.

D7k is recognized on the screen and (I think) the setting box got properly populated with data but not got time to do anything else today.

It would be great if you could make live view work thru the computer monitor.

I can confirm it's working with the D800.

Thanks for making this, it's a nice clean interface without any clutter.

    And the price is right!

Seems there is a $19 commercial package on Windows PC's that does live view too and there is another free package that has live view (but is on Linux).

    Who knew?

    Thanks for you efforts

    Feedback:

The software recognizes my D3 but does not fire it. I get an error message 'Camera did not fire' HRESULT E_? call to COM failed. Let me know if you need exact error message and I will retest. It did allow me to change the ISO successfully.

    Dear Community

As far as I understand, this control software is for PCs. If yes I dont realy understand this projekt, who needs it, there are some control software around.
ok they cost some money, but if you realy need the functionality 100 or 150 euros should be ok.

What I did not find so far is this type of sw running on a IPad or Android just using a extended USB cable.
The idea is, doing timelapse passing day/night transitions and watching the histogram of the camera all the time and do the right adjustments at the right time.
The problem with Laptops is the power consumtion and therefor is just useless except you have the man power to carry all the staff (heavy batteries etc.).

I hope you dont kill me for this comment.

    regards

    Let me summarize:

You want it for a tablet and don't understand why its free?

    = = = =

Ok. I can see how a tablet version would be easier for the users. I think the software he uses to make this function isn't available for Apple or Android so maybe that might have something to do with it.

Perhaps as the source is available for free, you might like to learn how and then do it yourself? The joy of Open Source projects...

Are you offering to pay a few thousand for it? If so, maybe the developer will compile it for the iPad or whatever you need?

ok, if somebody has fun in developing.
It would not help if i pay a few thousand just for compiling it for the IPad. Serving the USB interface on the IPad is the real problem.
But anyway for the Android I am still hoping, that would be a nice Open source Projekt.
