I'm loving the mountain scenery here.
As far as the Killer Whales are concerned, they get several birds a day. They actually store fish in their throats and between shows, especially in late afternoon they spit this fish along the edges of their pools. Gulls and Herons (Snowy Egrets and Black-Crowned Night-Herons) eat lots of this fish and get used to being fed by the whales. The egrets get caught the most. Followed by gulls. The Night-Herons are generally more wary but they slip up too.
They spit fish just ahead of them on the water and the Snowy Egrets fly across and snatch it up. They also spit fish over the glass to the ground just to keep the birds interested. Orkid, the whale in the above photo is the best bird catcher. At some point as the egret flies out to snatch the fish from the service, she anticipates it and the second she spits it she submerges. While submerged she accelerates upward and snatches the egret in mid flight.
The prize is then split apart and shared with the other whales who are interested. They don't usually eat them, just rip them apart. Currently only three whales normally do this but a fourth is learning the ropes.

NikoDoby:
Thanks for the words of encouragement. Someone once asked me what it was like to drive a school bus. My reply was:
"Take your average to large long bathroom...insert 70 to 80 K-6 students. Now, at one end of this bathroom, put a large, noisy, diesel engine. And finally...sit on top of it."
Need I say any more?
Have a fine day every one. Just started a 3 day weekend.

@ Monty, the light clouds over the landscape adds a sense of calm.
@ drkbl, I like the placement of the scarf. Great timing.
@ heartyfisher, the different shades of orange are great.
@ Art, I checked the snowy mountains in full size and they look amazing. Well done.Valley of the 10 Peaks at Moraine Lake in Banff National Park, Alberta Canada.

@Regulator75, I'm pretty sure that it was around 40 minutes. As the clouds were quite bright due to the moon, I used f/5.6 at EV -5 (ISO100) and got 16 min, taking into consideration the reciprocity failure of T-Max this yields about 40 minutes of exposure.
@JMCS, I feel that the train shot is heavily unbalanced i.e. heavy on the left side. At such a location centering the train would have made it better. You could also try to find some trackside structures and get a shot there.
@Connor, the picture is full of V-shapes, nice catch.Posted 3 years ago # -
monty11-thanks! I didn't really notice the v's. haha, that's pretty cool.
