amazon had a D800E listed today for $3599.00 .. I checked back late this afternoon and it is down to $3499.00

odd thing is I am fairly certain it was Wolf camera earlier and now murphy's camera. strange to see a camera store overcharging on amazon under the main page, not a sub page where anyone can sell.

Nikon store lists buy now on the D800E ... I jumped on it. I am now waiting on the email confirmation, though my account on the site lists it as sold to me.

    Now to tell my wife I spent ~$3300 ... ;- )

Since it had been an hour and still no email from Nikon, I called them. According to the rep I talked with my order is under review (whatever the heck that means) and I should get an email in 2 or 3 hours.

What the heck is there to review ? Check my CC ... yep plenty of room on the card to buy this camera ... ship it ... /sighs

it took 24 hours or more to receive my confirmation on the sale from Nikon USA. So, you should be getting it at some point in the next day. Then it took a couple of days to get the shipping confirmation as I recall.

Shutterbug in Portland, Oregon, has D800's and D4's in stock, and they ship to USA. Most states wouldn't have to pay tax :-D
    Their # is 503-227-3456.

By the way, has anyone seen if the D800 batteries are in stock anywhere?

Thank you Yetibuddha. I will stop hitting refresh on my email client every 10 minutes then. LOL

I will be holding my breath until I get a tracking number. I opted for 2nd day air since it changed the $15 shipping to $35. For $20 to get it soooooooooner was worth it to me

@Geoff_K, I also ordered my D800 from the Nikon store on a morning and had the shipping tracking number in an email that same evening. Also did 2 day delivery. Flawless transaction!

    Thank you Rx4Photo.

Since it was friday morning I am half hoping it gets kicked out the door today, though even if it goes out Tuesday I get it before the weekend. The local HS team is playing at the NFL stadium and I will be there on the sidelines taking photos. I am hoping to be a 2 camera shooter for this event(D90 is my 3yr old body).

**Edit ... I have tracking information now. By end of day Monday it will be here. /dances ;-)

I just picked one at best buy last week in Phoenix at Best Buy. They had 4 or 5 left and saw some at Best Buy in California a few days ago East bay across from San Fransisco. I think they were $59.

Interesting question...but, only you have the answer.... if your tax is 7%...$210 dollars... Maybe you can work a deal on one and get them to throw in tax or split it with you. Or, sometimes if one pays cash, not credit card, you can get the discount of 2-3% that would go to the credit card company.

You must be waiting for a D800E, as B & H has the D800 in stock.

yeah its something close to $250 in tax.

i've been waiting for the D800E, yes. I just wish B and H were a LITTLE more helpful. I don't need to know the specific date, just an estimate. Will I get it this month or will I be waiting until the first of next year?
