Just ordered a D800e from Best Buy - should have by 8-8. My order with B&H (they are the best for all things photograpnic and I can never knock them for quality customer service) has been hanging since 4-27... they can't tell you when, but your on the list. I got frantic since I have 2 weeks travel on 8-20. Called B&H and the rep said "don't get you hopes up". I have my fingers crossed that the camera from Best Buy is not a dud product relating to all the problems posted on the internet.
Can't cancel my order with B&H till Monday, maybe I'll have 2 cameras? Stay tuned for an E-Bay deal.

Important note, Best Buy charges State Tax, ouch. Call the 888 number and they will offer a $75 credit on your purchase.

A question...why would one purchase a new camera on eBay, for the same price as a reputable Nikon dealer?

it's a not craigs list, so please keep in mind that if You want to advertise a company You have to contact with admin. till that time all e-bay findings and direct addresses will be removed.

I wouldn't worry about getting two cameras. Not sure about the 800E, but concerning the regular D800 B&H is still very much filling orders from the first or second week of February. It will be a while till they reach April....

After waiting five months for B&H to fill my order, I decided to place an order with Amazon this weekend. Enough is enough, and all that. And lo and behold: three days later, Amazon announced they would probably ship my camera next week. I was tickled pink, of course.
And then, yesterday, I received an email from B&H, notifying me my D800 had shipped and was already halfway across the country. It will arrive today. This means, for all of you who are still desperately waiting for B&H to fill their order, that they are now on 2/29. The pace seems to be picking up!

OK, now I'm cranky.
Best Buy (US) will not ship to Canada. Best Buy (CAN) and its clone store never have it in stock.
Amazon (US) will not ship to Canada. Amazon (CAN) doesn't carry such a big ticket item.
Got on a dealer's list. Will not name dealer, but got to the top of his list today...so I got an e-mail: "We don't ship to Canada".

Just got mine from the classic camera in London, UK. They are a Nikon dealer and they ship worldwide. They sell Zeiss lenses too! picked up the 50 1.4 ZF2 the shots look amazing!!
Edit: Just saw on their twitter, they have two left in stock.

And in pound sterling, the camera is even more expensive than on the mainland of Europe: 3300 euro, or 900 euro (1114 dollar) more than the States and 300 more than on the continent. It all smells rather fishy.
The same thing happens with laptops, by the way. Apple and Asus - and quite possible every other brand as well - will often market their wares in the exact same prices in dollars as in euros and often pound. I ordered my D800 from Adorama on March 24th. I received an email yesterday day informing me that my camera had shipped and I would have it by the end of business today. Its about time and I hope its been worth the wait.
