I have been tracking availability at the Nikon store. Throughout the day today there was only a period of a few hours when I was unable to put a D800 into my cart. As Rx4Photo said, the flood gates seem to be opening. If you want a D800, they are available.

The D4 seems to still be in comparatively short supply.

Amazon is preparing shipment for D800 May 21st order.
I had originally ordered on March 8th, received the camera on May 17th but had to return it due to green cast LCD. Amazon put me back at the end of the queue again. Replacement will arrive on Monday.

Amazon had the D800 listed for $2,049.00 for a short time on Monday. I called customer service to verify the price, which they agreed was $2049.00. I placed an order immediately. Then, later that day get the dreaded email that an error occurred which caused price to be incorrectly stated.

After contacting customer service by email, they refused to honor price after listening to recording of phone call by stating the weasel words "we never made a PROMISE to sell you product at the incorrect price". Okay, sure. Weasel words. They will gladly skim a hefty 8% off any item you sell, and hold your funds for up to 30 days if they wish to "review" your account. You gotta love capitalism. I know Amazon sure does. : - )

Checked the Nikon store yesterday and scored a D800 !! Cancelled at B&H (Mar 7)and was told I wouldn't have gotten my camera for a LONG time. Keep checking the Nikon store and you will get yours eventually. The good news is that they don't take advance orders. 1st come 1st served.

The D800 is still in stock at the Nikon store. I think all the early adopters have theirs and we will start seeing ready availability.

Guys, I have a D800 new in box that needs a home. Never even turned on yet; completely factory sealed. USA model from authorized dealer. I can ship this sucker out today for $3,075 total (shipping included). PM if you are truly interested. I'm located in Louisiana and would be willing to drive up to 90 miles to meet and sell if you wanted to go that route. It needs a home and I need to focus on unloading all of my Canon gear as well : )

I know many of you are looking, waiting, etc. Please consider my option as you may actually save on taxes. Receipt included as well. You can't go wrong. i may even throw in a CF card (used of course) with the deal. I'm ready

I wonder why anyone bothers to be a Nikon authorize reseller, if you end up losing sells to BestBuy and Amazon? I would be ticked if I were Adorama or B&H right now.

I decided to cancel my order at Abe's of Maine after they informed me that it would take another month or month and a half to get my camera. Which is available now at several stores. Since I had pre-paid, I'm still waiting for my refund to purchase my precious one! I'm hoping the refund doesn't take forever. I'm not happy with their customer service.

Just had a call from my camera retailer offering me a D800E - extra $500 above the D800 - as he has 3 in stock. After declining his offer and deciding to wait he said I should have a D800 by the end of july.

I cancelled my adorama order of Feb 12th may cancel my D4 as well. Cameta camera has been getting 10 in at a time. Currently I bought the last one but shipped back the first D800 I ordered by refused shipping because I was out of town. That one should be back on there shelf in a few days. Next day mailed the second one to my vacation spot and it was there when I arrived.

I purchased my D800 from the Nikon site in late May. I received confirmation the same day, a shipping email the following day, and the camera the day after that (because I paid for next day delivery). Good luck. You are going to love the camera.

I'm bored today, so here's an update on the most recent order times I've seen for delivered D800s and D800Es.

    B&H D800: 07-Feb-2012 22:30 EST
    B&H D800E: 07-Feb-2012 07:35 EST
    Adorama D800: 08-Feb-2012 03:27 EST
    Adorama D800E: 07-Feb-2012 11:32 EST
    Amazon D800: 16-Apr-2012

    And the graph for B&H.

There appears to have been a burst of D800E deliveries from B&H, which has now stopped. I'm hoping mine, ordered at 11:30 EST, is in the next batch.

    More data points welcomed, folks.

I hope Nikon gets their shipments out faster really want to take a vacation this year and the camera is what I am using to set that vacation in motion. Once I have the camera in hand will plan on taking off a month later for a photo adventure of a vacation out to TX to see my little brother and just take pics of anything and everything along the way. I have all the happy fun glass for the adventure just not the body of choice to really take advantage of all the glass has to offer. So once Adorama gets and ships I will be good until then.. Must remain patient.

Dormant - thanks again for the data. I'm an hour behind you at B&H.

The last few times I checked, I have not found D800s available at the Nikon store. This represents a change from last week.
