I talked to B&H this morning they don't even want to talk about my D800 order

they have standard answers and they all amount to "you will get it when you get it"
I'm sure they must know a little about whats going on but they certainly won't share it with their customers. Why would they leave me hanging on thinking tomorrow I will hear that it has shipped. B&H dosen't have the camera's to ship but it seems they could give us some kind of idea what year we might get this order. I'll bet they have an idea of what year and I don't.
I guess I'll wait around another a week and get on the phone and see if I can find one.

Yes, me too. I ordered on 3/2 from Adorama and after nearly 3 months, recently cancelled pre-order. This was done because another vendor (whom our company does tons of business with) claimed "they were getting in a shipment of 20 D800's in ten days". I was first on their list for this new shipment.

Well...hahaha...the shipment came and gone. Supposedly. My order magically gets pushed back another 10-15 days. So now, at 20 days since I placed order, I may have another 10-20 days, supposedly, until my supposed D800 supposedly ships. People are such GD liars

No-one's reported any deliveries from B&H recently. I hope it's because they're too busy playing with their new toys.

Please, please - if you haven't already - report if you have had your D800(E) delivered, along with the order date and time. It helps me keep sane.

I am very close to going back to Canon after spending tens of thousands of dollars on Nikon cameras through the years (starting with who knows what film camera and lenses several decades ago).

    My story:
After reading about people periodically finding the "buy now" button available for the D800 in the Nikon USA online store, I decided the play the game (yes, I have an order in with B&H, Amazon, a local store or two, etc). Sunday night I finally succeeded in snagging a D800 . . . or so I thought. I submitted the order and waited for the confirmation. Hours later I received an email from Digital River saying that my purchase was denied. Let me add that I started a new job on Monday and am staying in a hotel until I find a house to buy. Therefore, my shipping address and my billing address is not the same.

Over the last few days, I have called my credit card company who says that according to their records, there was no purchase requested for $3200 plus from any vendor in the last few days and had they received such a request, it would have gone through immediately. (My jobs over the years have required me to travel extensively, so it's not a big deal as far as my credit card company is concerned if my shipping and billing addresses are different.)

Digital River, although they appear to have something to do with the denial of my purchase periodically responds to my emails writing that I need to call Nikon customer service to see what the problem is. Oh, and by the way, one of the emails from Digital River included an admission that they changed some of the settings associated with my Nikon account and I should try to purchase the camera again (good luck with that).

And when I call Nikon USA store customer service, they can see that I ordered the camera, but there are none available at the moment, so they can't help me. When I ask whether my order will be denied if the camera becomes available and I purchase it again, they told me to contact Digital River and ask them why the purchase was denied. And as I wrote earlier, Digital River refers me to Nikon customer support.

Are you dizzy yet? I sure am. And disgusted, too. I've been on this not so merry-go-round for 3 days.

I had an order in with B&H for the D800 placed on 2/16. I received my grip from them, but no camera. Based on the comments from others I checked out the Nikon Store and after refreshing the page a couple times throughout the morning, I eventually came across the buy now. I put the order in Tuesday 6/12 around 11:00am and it is out for delivery today 6/14. They charge $15 for standard shipping and it was only another $15 to upgrade to 2-day air, which was worth it. Still I will wait until I have it in hand tonight before cancelling B&H. I checked the Nikon Store later when I got home last night and saw the buy now available again, so they must pop up fairly regularly. Keep checking and get one now rather than waiting for B&H. I had to give it a shot if I ever wanted to shoot with one before the end of the summer, and it worked.

I stayed up late on Saturday night and just happened to check the Nikon store for the D800's availability. Surprisingly, at 1am on Sunday 6/10, the 'Buy Now' button appeared and I clicked it right away to place the order. I received the order confirmation by 7am the same day and the shipping confirmation by 8am Monday 6/11. UPS tracking indicates that the package should arrive on Friday 6/15. Of course, I immediately cancelled my 3/13 Adorama order. Just pure luck, I guess...

Kinda sucks being kept in the dark like this.

Nikon D800 is now available through Walmart.com with free shipping to store for pickup or free shipping to home with some conditions.

For those that ordered from the Nikon Store, about how long did it take to get shipping confirmation? I got order confirmation, but nothing regarding when it would be shipped. I just don't want to cancel my B&H order until I know for sure I'm getting one from Nikon. Thanks for any replies.

I went through this exact same pre order insanity when I ordered a D7000 upon release. I thought that maybe that was a fluke from Nikon. I thought for sure the D800 release would be better. Now I know better.

Ordered D800 with BB, after 48 hours of no progress on order, I ordered one from Nikon USA. Last night I got a card declined message from BH so I canceled my BB order. BH order went through and I got an email saying my D800E should ship today! I pre ordered 2/7 but can't remember what time.

Both my D4 and D800e took 4 months almost to the day. I think that's what you can expect. Just hold on, it will come.

Yes, and the same thing will happen once the long awaited D400 is announced.
Knowing that going in helps, somewhat.

I can't really hold on much longer. I've kept my 5d2 to have something to shoot with (thank goodness I didn't sell it) and it will continue to tumble in resale value. Not exactly something I wish for. Actually am thinking of selling my 5d2 now, and buying a cheap crop camera until my FF arrives. Maybe a 20d for $200. Then I can easily sell back for no loss. Or very little loss. Or just keep for backup.

I sold my D700 in anticipation of the price drop. Did well on the sale, but now have to live with a D80 until the D800 arrives. I'm surprised at just how weak the images are compared to the D700.
