I called Bedford and they stated the 2 extra D800s were going to the next people on the list. I placed an order today and they said (by phone) to expect a wait of 1-2 weeks.

Bedford will charge once placed the order or charge when they ship item?

They charge when you place the order. That's the only drawback.

I ordered from crutchfield on APR 10th. Today they told me I was in the top 20 on the list. They said they have been receiving "a few units a week"

Yesterday I posted the above. Today I found a D800 on the Roberts camera web site and ordered it. I was going to cancel my crutchfield order as soon as I got the one from Roberts camera. You guessed it, I got home today and found notification my crutchfield order has shipped. I will try to cancel my roberts camera order in the morning, if I am unable to do that I will have two D800's. I will sell one of them for my cost, I will keep everyone informed.

Went to a local store today. The stores get an allocation list from Nikon. This means that the camera is available for them and they can have it within 2days.

The store I went to has one D800 allocated. They will get it for you if you give them your credit card. Name is Converse Photo and they are located in New Bedford, MA. They do not have any D4's or D800E allocated.

    Good luck.

I ordered a D800 from Bedford Camera in Arkansas on May 29th and will receive it tomorrow. I guess I have to cancel my order at B&H. I'll miss their useless emails.

I just got the mother of all emails. Had to join NR to post...

Adorama is shipping my D800 - ordered 2/7 at 1:10pm CST.

Finally! I had totally given up hope!

Guess I won't have to check out a thread like this till the next major Nikon release that's botched.

Got the same email. Ordered 2/7 around 10pm from Adorama. UPS says it will arrive tomorrow. Looks like the bottleneck is fading.

Still, I'll believe it when I see it.

Good luck to all of you.

    Thanks

The d800 I ordered from crutchfield on 4/10 will be here tomorrow. I canceled my order from Roberts camera, it was already in the UPS out stack in the store.

A friend of mine who is not a NPS member ordered his D800 from Amazon on March 15. His camera arrived at his house last Thursday, May 31. ...

Has anyone (not NPS) received a D800E from B&H recently? If so when did you order? I ordered at 10:00 am PST Feb. 7. No camera yet.

    How about Non-NPS D4s?

I would like to see just ONE post that says "I ORDERED FROM B&H AND THEY DELIVERED."

They either have a million orders or Nikon is just not sending them any cameras.

    I could cry.

Such posts exist in this thread. Just not many.

That happened for me. It did take them months, but my D800E was ordered Feb. 7th 20 minutes after they went on sale and I received the camera 6/1/2012.

aorr, Are you an NPS member?

My guess is that the B&H allocation is not proportional to their sales volume. As such Mom & Pops Camera gets gets 1 and B&H gets 30. Yet B&H sells 1oo times as many as Mom & Pop. I can see why Nikon would need to do that, I just wish B&H, Adorama, Amazon etc. would give us more of a clue.

Wouldn't it be fantastic if Nikon came to the party an informed its loyal followers just when we can expect to be able to purchase the D800 off the shelf or even when we can expect deliveries to pick up. I realize that they have had issues with their production plant but we are loyal and just need to know.

I was in a Camera West store in Seattle yesterday and was told they have D800 in stock in their warehouse with no wait list and shipping in 2-5 days. They also told me they had several D4s and at least one D800e in their warehouse. My March 23rd Amazon D800 order is supposed to arrive today so I didn't try to order from this chain.

Has anyone ordered from J&R? I ordered on April 3rd. I am trying to get a fix on where I fall in the waiting list.
Also, has anyone recieved the D800 grip with your order? I ordered that as well and worry that if they're not in stock it may cause my order to wait longer. Thanks

Thomas R. When and where did you order it and are you and NPS member?

I just received another "We're sorry" note from B&H.

rizzline, I had a grip on order with B&H. Amazon has them in stock for $415 & free shipping if you are an Amazon Prime member. I ended up canceling my B&H order, they are now in stock at B&H as well. I had the same worry, and that is why I bought one when I found it and cancelled with B&H.

Thanks Eric, It was out of stock when I ordered. On your advice I put a grip in my cart at J&R and they seem to have them in stock. I feel for everyone who has waited since Febuary and March. I check every day on my April order.

Nope, not NPS. Just an every-day Joe. :-)

Modifying my last message, I was just notified my D800, ordered 3/23 from Amazon, has been shipped and will arrive next Tuesday. The logjam seems to have eased.
