My order has been in for about a month along with a $1000 deposit. The closest delivery date I can squeeze out of my supplier is mid June some time. Us Kiwi's really are at the bottom of something!

You know, for all our patience in waiting for the 800E, Nikon USA should throw us a bone and include a copy of Capture NX 2 in the box.

At that time, you requested that we notify you once aD800 Digital SLR Camera Body was back in stock. This email was auto-generated and sent to you as the item is now in stock. It can be purchased by clicking the View Item button which will directly route you to the product on Samys. com.

Some products may be limited in supply. If you reach the site and the item is not in stock, someone else purchased it first. Please call 1-800-321-4726 if you would to have our Customer Service Staff check future availability. We would be happy to serve you.

I ordered a D800E at 6 am on feb 7 from B&H. Haven't heard a word. Ordered from a local dealer in upstate NY three weeks ago and it came in today. I was the only one on their list. Local obviously the way to go. I will cancel the other once I have the camera in my hands.

Happy to report that my D800E is being shipped. Ordered it on April 19 via a source I cannot reveal. I am willing to let go my D800 if anyone is interested. Just want to recover my cost. I opened it and used it on the weekend. Has not encountered freeze nor the LCD has green tint. Did encounter a few spots of "whites" on a blue sky picture as reported by many. This is known to improve over time as the sensor cleans itself. Send me a private and we can arrange.

okay. I am another person who cancelled my order with B&H for my D800 (ordered Feb 13). I just called a local store. They had a waiting list of about 100 people. They also said the had a shorter list of only 6 people who pre-paid. They said that if you pre-pay, you get prioritized. That was 2 days ago. I happened to call again today and they had received about 10 more in today. Those 6 people got theirs and the other 4 went to the people on their waiting list. So I said fine, I'll prepay and be at the top of the list for the next shipment. Did that. Then the guy called me back to tell me that 2 of the 4 people on their waiting list no longer needed one because they got theirs some other way. So boom. I got one of those two. DONE!

I am now convinced that pre-paying through a local store is the only way to get one of these anytime soon. Call a few local stores and ask them if they offer pre-paid priority lists. After waiting for over 3 months with no information from B&H, I got it done in 20 minutes with a reputable local dealer.

Hell, I think they should throw in a new 35mm 1.4G

Beso I hope you weren't east coast because I ordered the one from Best Buy (from last weeks delivery) and am picking it up today. I'll be canceling my Adorama pre-order from Feb 23rd after it is in hand.

    a 35mm f/1.4G would be nice ;)

I recently placed a down payment on a camera in a local shop, no one on the waiting list had placed a down payment so I got bumped to the head of the line. Will be canceling my B&H order from March 15th as soon as I get my hands on the D800.

I have an extra D800. I ordered mine from B&H on Feb 27th, and as you probably guessed I still haven't gotten mine. So last month I bought one off of craigslist for $3500. But today I found one on Best Buys and bought it for $3150 with tax.

Hopefully not too off topic and definitely not intended as advertising but I've just passed through duty free in Dubai airport where they have the D800 body on the shelf for sale - the catch ? USD 4,444 with 1 year international warranty. But then Dubai duty free has not had good prices on electronics for many years. Cheers !

I have to thank NRF letting out NikonUSA had D800 available. Caught this yesterday 7am and jump to NikonStore, sure enough they showed "in stock". Placeed my order and kept my finger crossed all day. By yesterday afternoon, NikonStore no longer have them D800, my doubt began to sting. Same evening at 11pm, rcvd email with shipment info. Couldn't believe it. I think Nikon store must stay in your radar screen for regular ping ... they don't take pre-orders hence no wait list. Being "Nikon" store, should be first to get availability....(I think). In any case when they show item in stock, means they have it on first come basis. Clean cut: yes or no. I now have canceled my B&H order placed March 12th. I don't blame B&H, its been tough for everyone. Tracking shows package arriving tomorrow. Yes, I paid for 2nd day shipping... why not.

Ordered mine yesterday on shop.nikonusa.com as well, received my shipping confirmation before the end of the day. You've just gotta get there at the right time. FYI - my serial number is 3009XXX, so wonder what this means in terms of how they are getting their stock? Lower number than Beso who got his a few days ago? To be honest, all I care about is the fact that I'll be enjoying my D800 in a few days!!!! And yes, "edisonlighthouse" I should have sprung for the 2nd day shipping! But I'll have it soon enough...

When I placed my order in the Best Buy store for my D800, I received 2x Reward Zone points, which ends up equaling $120 in store credit money. Well, not but a week after I received my camera, I get an email from Best Buy advertising 3x Reward Zone points! I returned the D800 and re-bought it. So now I have $180 in store credit. WIN!

I also found one on the nikon store yesterday morning. UPS just delivered! So excited! Cancelling my adorama order now! Thanks to this thread, I have my D800...otherwise I'd still be sitting around waiting for my 2/7 pre order.

I had decided to go through a local store to begin with... (call me old fashion)
I called around to see if any where available. I already knew the answer, but thought I'd ask anyway haha! Finally one of them told me they had two pre-ordered, and that one of those two was already reserved. So I hopped in the car after my phone call to give them a check asap. That was mid-march. Super long story short, I come to find this week, after not having received my D800 for 2 months that they had given my body to someone else...
This, after having to refer at least 5 clients to someone else in the past month. How thoroughly disappointing! I know none of this is actually Nikons fault. But it makes me think twice about going through a local store again. If anyone would show partiality to one customer over another, obviously it would be local opposed to some internet store.
