    Hi there,

Registered to say thanks to beexcellent for the heads up on Dale Photographic. Managed to grab their last D800 this morning. :o)

To help others though, before finding Dale had stock I was talking to Wilkinson in Preston. They're expecting eight before the end of this month and said if I pre-ordered I'd get one so their waiting list obviously isn't that big. Hope this helps someone :o)

    Cheers
    Andy

For those still waiting: I ordered my camera from B&H on Feb 7, 2012 at 6 or 7 AM Eastern Time. I was Order #1019471415 and I received my D800 from them last thursday May 17th.

I am not NPS and for those interested my D800 serial # is 30116XX with the last two digits X'd out.

That surely doesn't look right, can't talk to a boss there? I would be shaking there cage pretty good if I had so many proofs for wrong doing...

Looks like you may have access to one there, try PM him.

Believe it or not. AMAZON delisted nikon D800E today. ie. Nobody can make new order now. I ordered on April 20. Still no idea when they can ship the D800E.

Yesterday, May 21, I saw a post on NR Facebook that stated the Nikon USA website store had D4s and D800s in stock. I promptly logged onto the Nikon store and placed my order for the D800. Today, May 22, I received confirmation of shipping with a tracking number and the camera serial number (Wataru, for your info the serial number is 3010XXX, so I am not sure that helps as we have seen higher serial numbers previously). I should have the camera tomorrow or Thursday at the latest.

I have been waiting to get this camera since ordering in February from B&H, since March from Amazon, and at various other times from local dealers and Ritz camera. As soon as I have camera in hand I will be cancelling all those other orders. Hopefully someone will move up the ladder.

For those of you still waiting, keep looking. The Nikon USA store briefly had the D800 in stock this morning (I posted that info on NR Facebook as well as here) but they don't last so check frequently. I just missed an opportunity at BestBuy last week by about 20 minutes. The cameras are trickling in but it will be some time before the backlog is eliminated. As for B&H, at last report they were still working on day one or two (Feb 6/7) preorders and they are planning on closing for another religious time out soon. Amazon appears to be working on March 8 preorders. Adorama appears to be bringing up the rear of the big three Internet retailers.

I have not been overly obsessive about finding a camera but I have been keeping my eyes open and watching NRF and NR's Facebook page regularly. The best tool for tracking what is going on is NRF and NR Facebook. Thanks to the posters on both sites. I have tried to contribute where appropriate. For those still looking for a D4 or D800 keep your eyes and ears open. It is worth spending a bit of extra time. You never know when you might get lucky.

Once again, I try to get into the NIKON store and they show D800s in stock at B & H, yet these are "pre-order" and the NIKON store itself will not let me log in nor will it tell me they have any cameras available. they simply redirect me to another supplier.

Maybe this is some crazy regional thing??? Or, they show the camera because they have five to sell, and then are out again.???

Just had to canceled my Adorama pre-order for the D800. This has been a very frustrating and annoying process so far. I don't blame Adorama (except for not providing some basic information on where I stand on their list), but at the same time, I don't see why Bestbuy is getting larger shipments for a pro-camera than B&D and Adorama. When I go to Costco, there's a pallet of D7000s and D5100s that aren't moving and yet not enough D800s. Just getting tried of not knowing when my camera will ever show up at this point, and seeing people who simply run to their local Target get the camera without having to wait months for it. It's pretty amazing given the modern age of just-in-time inventory, fast worldwide shipping, etc. that I've been waiting this long for a camera I pre-ordered back in Feb. It's not like it's a custom Bugatti Veyron. It's just a camera. I like Nikon, but this is ridiculous. They should have waited a bit more before releasing the camera, and I guess being in NPS or an authorize Nikon reseller has its benefits. You can order a bunch of D800s you don't need and then sell them on eBay for over a $3500 a piece. Classy guys, real classy.

@msmoto, the window of opportunity is fleeting. The D800 was briefly available at the Nikon store on Monday and again on Tuesday morning. They sell quickly as the word spreads like wildfire. Mine will be delivered this morning before 10:30 a.m. :)

I've had a d800 on order from B&H since Feb 12. Stopped into a local store in Denver (I'm from Wa state) this morning looking for an adaptor ring - happened to ask if they'd seen any D800's....

    "Well.... Do you want one?".

Turns out they got 4 in yesterday, 2 were pre-ordered, one sold off the shelf last night, and I got the last one on the shelf this morning (happened to walk in 5 min after opening.)

Canceled with B&H just after picking it up. SN 3014XXX.

Excellent. This corresponds to about 2,000 a week going to the U.S. Market for the last month.

The lesson is this: if you don't get it from BandH or wherever you've tried, try somewhere else. They are out there and Nikon is getting caught up. They just are not on the shelf at every supplier, and anything on the shelf won't stay there long, so do the footwork, or pay extra for an e-bay camera if your time is too valuable. (What you are paying for is someone else's time to do the footwork.)

I received my D800 from NikonUSA.com this morning. I have cancelled my orders at B&H, Amazon, Ritz, and some local stores. Hopefully someone else will get their camera just a bit sooner. Good luck to all those still searching.

This clearly indicated that there is a bottleneck with D800e orders. My order number is 10194689XX and was for a D800e. If they are sending out standard D800 bodies ordered long after a D800e, then it indicates to me that there are very very few D800e bodies being provided by Nikon.

    @Beso..

Yes, about the "window of opportunity" I realize now that is how I have ordered several items I have now. On B & H, I would watch the item each morning, e.g.., a 70-200mm f/2.8VRII, which was out of stock, and one day it was available, I ordered it, and a few hours later, no longer in stock. So, I understand exactly what you are saying.....old folks are kinda slow sometimes....thanks for reiterating your point.

I forgot to mention in my earlier post that the D800 was listed in stock Today, my wife ordered it Today, and I will be getting tomorrow- so I'll only have a 1 day waiting period for my D800 order...

So everyone who's been waiting on pre-order lists- you may want to stay vigilant and look around online and locally.

Just called Adorama about a half an hour ago today 05/23/2012 and they stated they are still waiting for more shipments with no ETAs from Nikon. So yeah really hoping to see the camera before summer is over, but it appears Nikon hasn't been able to meet demand.

    Hello.
Yet another cancellation from B&H. I placed my order on Feb 7th. Thanks to this forum I put in an order from Ritz on May 12th, and will receive it tomorrow. This has been a learning experience, I will know how to better play this game with the release of the new D 900.
