    Hello,

I have a nikon D7000 and very often when I change lens the autofocus doesnt work.

I do turn off the camera before switching lenses. It happens with any lens no lens in particular. What could it be? contacts seam clean

In order to make it work again I have to keep unlocking and lock the lens many times until it works

    Please give me some advice

    thanks

Hello Marmagi, welcome to the forum.

There is only one course of action open to you, send it off to Nikon for repair. It sure sounds like you have a connection problem. Is it in warranty? When did it start doing this?

Don't keep working the lens joint to try to make it better, it will not help at all. Doing so is like the guy who thrashes his car or bikes engine to try to 'clear the misfire' - it will not work, only wear it out.

How many lenses have you tested it with?

Could be a bum lens too.

Correct me if my logic is in error here people, but if you've tried it with multiple lenses and get the same problem, that means you can eliminate the lenses from the equation (unless all are faulty)? I would want to know if there were any commonality between the times that it works on each lens, such as on start up or immediately after their changing etc? Might be a problem with a loose connection BEHIND one of the contacts (anyone know which pin is responsible for focus?). As spraynpray has suggested, looks like a visit to the service centre is in order.

check the contacts on Your camera - You should see them once You take the lens off. clean it with IPA or contact cleaner

If it isn't the contacts, make certain you aren't accidentally toggling the on camera A/F switch. I've never done this myself, but I've read that some people do this on Nikon's when changing lenses.

Could it possibly be a in camera setting? Maybe it is one of the modes you are using??? If you have the AF set on manual...or possibly your Fn keys are set for you focus mode and you are accidentally hitting it? Anyway I wouldn't suggest the over and over method as that is likely to really break stuff.

    What Willis said.

I sometimes do that (toggle AF/M switch on camera) while using my D lenses which do not have a focus switch.
