I use Aperture on my Apple computer. I just purchased a Nikon Coolpix AW 100 expressly to have the GPS information in the metadata of the photos. Apparently the GPS information only works with "view NX2"
I like using aperture. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Was the GPS on the AW100 turned on? Aperture usually has no trouble drawing GPS data from Nikon files.

Getting Lightroom is a step backwards, don't listen to the above post. :p

GPS coordinates are stored in the EXIF data, which is a standard. There is no way that only View NX2 could read this.

Does this problem apply to all the images? Images taken indoors will normally have no GPS coordinates.

    I suggest you:

    A) Load image to Flickr, which should read the GPS data.
    B) Check EXIF data using exiftool. If you're not comfortable with command-line stuff on the Mac, upload the image somewhere I can download it and I'll check it for you.

Ha backwards - I would need a 800mm lens to see how far back Aperture is ;) (Actually it is a good program.)

I'm with checking the GPS on or making sure you are not dropping any "selective" info on import.
