I just wanted to post here and see if anyone else has been having the same issue and been able to resolve.
Basically, I'm converting Nikon D7000 H.264 movs to prores using compressor so I can edit in FCP.
In compressor you have the preview box, where it has a before/after view. I find there is a significant difference between the before and after. The after is much brighter and blown out than the original. I thought this may be a glitch in the viewer, but even when you convert it and compare the prores mov and the original, the difference is the same as it was in the viewer.
I thought it may be a compressor bug but I have done the same procedure with some canon H.264 and the before and after is the same.
This leads me to believe that there is a problem with the way the Nikon encodes the H.264 in camera. Is this possible?
And, more to the point, have I just accidentally set my D7000 to a setting that would change the encode?
Any help would be great.
Thanks in advance.
