Does anybody using any of these camera have problems with the mode dial, I am always accidently changing the mode from still to video

Nikon, if you reading this, Can you please, PLEASE, modify it so there is a stop button to press before you can turn the Dial

At the price these camera's are, its not much to ask

I have the same problem, and it is very annoying. Especially since I rarely use video and I never use those two other modes, whatever they are. That switch should actually be a thumbwheel for manual focus or autofocus override, and they should put a "video/still" toggle button somewhere, and lose the two useless modes, at least on the V1.

Could be worse, the C***n 5D MkII jettisons its lens if you brush the button that is right near your finger...

I read on a French forum that many users tape the dial in their favorite position.
I wonder if a rubber band of the appropriate size passed around the dial would give you enough friction to avoid this problem ?…
In any case, do write to Nikon and tell them so that they make the necessary modification on the V2.

Perhaps they can also design a way to stop the Flashgun cover disappearing at the same time

Guess what… Taping the cover in place is the way to do it for many, or, as one guy said: "I don't care I always leave the flash gun on the camera" :)

After 2 months I really enjoy this camera, but agree with most of these posts. The mode dial easily and accidentally is bumped to a different setting, and the accessory shoe cover needs a retainer or tether to prevent loss. I like the accessory SB-N5 flash power output, but would have liked the built-in flash of the J-1 for convenience.
