Now that its replacement is around the corner, would you say D60 price is going to drop soon? Or is it the opposite; go up because Nikon will not include it in rebates, there will be less of them around, etc?

I don't think the price will drop by much if at all murNokin. I think your correct in assuming there's going to be less of them around.
Welcome to the forum and how's the weather been in Seattle? :^)

Hey Niko, the weather has been great here in Seattle! I have a few friends here looking into buying a d60, murNikon are you one of my friends?

Nikon has been very stingy on the supply side lately. There probably wont be many left by the time the D3000 hits the streets. For my money, I'd go with the D3000. Its a much better camera for not much more money (at least going off the specs it is). I'd get it for the larger LCD alone. Throw in the better auto-focus, and you've got a camera that is worth the extra $150.
Besides... a couple of days of begging on the streets will get you the extra $150 if you are hard up for cash.
I suspect the price of the D60 Will almost certainly drop... probably down to where D40 levels are now (~$400 Kitted). The feature set is just to low, reletive to the D3000, to justify its current price (about $550)

Yeah, I guess you could pick up the D60 for a nice price, but why bother? The D3000 should be much better.
If I recall correctly, was the same autofocus system on the D80? I don't remember. I wish they had put that in the lesser bodies earlier. I have now reached the limit with 3 autofocus sensors.

Yeah, D3000 certainly looks like a better camera, but I won't buy a camera that is not around for a couple months at least. I would like to see its low-light and overall performance first. And unfortunately I don't have time to wait for another couple months. So I pulled the plug today, ordered the two-lens kit from adorama for under $700. If Nikon puts in a new rebate (b/c I think the one going on right now ends tomorrow), that brings d3000 two-lens kit to near this price I might have to reconsider my decision though.
Thanks for all the replies, and hey Seba!
