Would it drop below $1500 range? or would it still be around $1500~2000 after the D800 release?
What do you guys think?
What's going to happen to the D700 price?

I don't think it's going to drop below $1500 before 2013.

I wouldn't hold your breath. Also there are several threads about this and yours will probably get closed as well.

I think this is going to depend on three things
The availability of the D800
How much better is the focusing on the D800 over the D700
and critically
Will the IQ at high ISO values on the D800 be equivalent or better than the D700The D700 was and still is, a fantastic camera especially for wedding photographers who do not want video

The D700 was and still is, a fantastic camera especially for wedding photographers who do not want video+1. Every wedding photographer I know uses at least one. In answer to your question, I don't see it changing, and if Nikon is sensible, now that it's R&D costs are covered (?) it would seem to make sense for them to continue selling it.

I fear that would be a mistake as it would detract from D800 sales which they need to recover R&D on that one.

I highly doubt there are any D700 bodies left for the price to drop on. I cannot find one in stock anywhere.

Used sure. I doubt the used price will fall for a while, since the D800 is not going to satisfy low light shooters, as already mentioned.
