if you will use this for bugs and people as well as jewelry, then the VR will be useful. If you are using it for jewelry, flowers, and still life, then a macro rail and a good tripod would be more useful.

I use the Carl Zeiss Makro Planar 100mm for Macro Shots, Landscapes and Portrait, and it performs amazing in all areas.
