   Hi there. So I'm on the verge of buying a d7000 but have heard so many times that there is no point in getting a good body with crappy lenses. I am buying the d7000 body for about 1,200 aus dollars and the max I want to spend all up is 2,400 dollars.
   I am just starting out with digital slrs with no previous experience (except for an old family film slr) so have no idea what are the best lenses to get.

   I understand there have been similar threads on the same issue, but most of you are talking a lingo I am not so familiar with. Is anyone willing to break it down for me and explain to me the best what lense is best for what?

   I want to use the slr for everyday use. Holidays, birthdays, friends, families, but at the same time I want something I can grow with if I chose to.

   I'm looking to get hopefully 2 lenses. One for the walking around taking general pictures, and then another one for scenery.

   Can anyone suggest some lenses for me, brands, sizes etc.

   P.s if your going to go into detail about macros etc. please remember to break it down for me and explain what they'll do. I'm trying to learn and decide at the same time.

Holidays, birthdays, friends, families, but at the same time I want something I can grow with if I chose to." i think a 24-70 focal length equivalent in the film (35mm) fit really well. In the d7000 body, you are looking at a focal length of 17-50mm as the d7000 has narrower point of view (1.5 crop).
   This lens will let you take picture of scenary/landscape too, unless if you want to take scenary from far far away, then you may want to get a longer focal length as well.

   Depending on your budget, Tamron and Sigma make very good 17-50mm f2.8 lenses for crop body like the d7000 at a lower price compare to Nikkor lens while the picture quality are pretty close, the built quality are usually not as close.

   I am sure some may have different views.
