To those that have the chance to receive their D4 soon, I am looking for the D4 USB productID/PID. To retrieve it please follow the procedure below.
Cheers.
Under MacOS X:
1) Turn the camera on.
2) Connect the camera to the Mac with a USB cable.
3) In the Apple menu select 'About this Mac' and click on the 'More Info...' button.
4) In the System Profiler window select USB.
5) You should now see the Nikon device information.
Nikon has vendorID equal to 0x04b0, and you should have the Nikon productID in the 0x04xx format. This is the unique identifier I need.
Under WinXP:
1) Turn the camera on.
2) Connect the camera to the PC with a USB cable and allow it to recognize the new device.
3) Cancel out of the Found New Hardware Wizard if it starts.
4) Look in HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB or open the Device Manager from the Control Panel and find your device on the list, usually under 'Other Devices'. It may show a yellow exclamation mark indicating it is an unknown device. In Windows 7, go to Control Panel->Hardware and Sound->Device Manager. The D4 should show up under "Portable Devices". Expand "Portable Devices", right click the D4 item and select properties. Go to the "Details" tab and select the "Hardware Ids" property.
Double-click the device to open the properties. Select the Details tab and ensure that 'Device Instance Id' shows in the attribute dropdown box.
A string of characters will be displayed (looking like this USB\VID_04A9&PID_3145&REV_0002). The four characters to the right of 'VID_' and 'PID_' are the vendor ID and product ID, respectively.
Nikon has vendorID equal to 0x04b0, and you should have the Nikon productID in the 0x04xx format. This is the unique identifier I need.
