Okay, the title seems like a joke, I guess, and I'm half joking. Here's a bizarre question for you all: has anyone ever caught a UFO in a shot? You have to realize that by UFO I don't mean anything extraterrestrial but just unidentified.
What made me think to ask is that I just saw one and I was wondering if anyone had any idea what it could have been. It came almost directly over me in southeast Idaho coming from the south and heading north. It looked like a fireball—it glowed red-orange and flickered irregularly. My first thought was that it was a helicopter, but it was crossing the sky so quickly that it would have been very close to the ground, and I think I would have heard it when I went outside to watch it. I grabbed what was handy on my way out the door—my nex-5n because my nikon was in my bag—and I got a short video of it. It was bigger than jupiter but much smaller (~10x?) than the moon.
I remember reading about that failed joint Russia/China mission to Mars and I think I remember them saying it would probably come out of orbit in January or February. Do you think it could have been that?
Thanks in advance for any help. I'm going to have trouble sleeping until I find out what it was.
