No gold boxes for me this Christmas, unfortunately, but here's hoping my 2012 has a few.
Thanks for a great year, everyone. I love this forum.

Happy holidays!
I got my gold box in January, the 105mm Macro Nikkor. Other than a SB-700, I don't think anything else can fit my budget.
Unless of course something nice is announced. We'll just have to wait.

A toast to you all for a happy, blessed and prosperous New Year. May we all find plenty of shooting opportunities and the right equipment in our hands to do the job. May we use our talents to bring smiles and warmth to the hearts of those around us.
Merry Christmas,
Cheers.Posted 1 year ago # -
Indeed Merry Christmas guys and all the best for 2012 for sure :)
Hey SkintBrit, how is that Cokin filter doing with your 14-24mm? Any images to share with us yet? Pretty sure your the only one with it on the forum or anyone I know for that matter even.

Hi Kanuck MERRY CHRISTMAS! Nope, not yet. This year has been very challenging for me financially, and so any photography I've done needed to be the paying type, and not for myself. One of the downsides of the Lee SW150 is that if you leave the attachment collar on the lens, it becomes enormous and won't fit in any of my bags, so I've had to take it off when I'm not planning on using it, and you know what that means............ when the occasion arises I don't have it with me, Doh! Also you may not have realised it, but even after the year or so I've been a member of the forum, I've still never worked out (O.K. I haven't really tried) how to post a picture! I suppose after seeing all your superb shots on the photo a day thread, I'm a bit nervous of showing my mediocre offerings! You're right, and thanks for reminding me about my filter, I waited long enough to get hold of one, I'd better make one of my new years resolutions to make time and actually use it :-)

Hi all,

May all your boxes be golden in the coming year, and all your photos memorable.
My best,
Mike

Well, hope you guys all had a merry Christmas. I didn't get any camera equipment this year (standard for me, so nothing to feel bad about), but I hope you guys did better.

Thanks for the update Skintbrit, I know the feeling. I have the Lee Filter system and always find myself just holding up the filters because I had forgot the damn holder at home :( I think for filter work I will just buy the 16-35mm this year and leave the 14-24mm as is. Anyways, Merry Christmas and I hope to see some of your work in 2012 ^^

Aloha Imua,
My active duty days are long, long gone. My photographer tab is quite faded.
One guests at our brunch today (a Navy fellow stationed at the MC base here) was turned away from the shore - he's a surfer - by the Secret Service at the base because of the 'Boss' was on the beach this morning. I didn't see AF One at the airport when we drove by yesterday, but I don't know which airport he landed at, of course, he's free to choose which ever he wants. ;-)
I hope the waves are good at North Shore tomorrow and everyone has had a wonderful Christmas.
My best to all,
Mike

And don't worry, I don't think I'm getting anything next year unless it's significantly cheap.
