Wish to have a Nikon "ZOOM" Lens that can be locked as a single focal, have very wide max aperture opening, can set from portrait/normal to macro lens when it's locked. And when unlocked, still you have a real zoom lens, and can be called a real all walk around lens. It will be possible to have this kind of lens.

Well OK... if you say so :)
I'm not aware of a zoom (35 mm format) that is wider than f2.8. Nikon or otherwise.
They do, however, have zoom lock's, and macro switches. So once we get around the whole "Laws of optics" thing, you'll get your lens.
Side note: Why don't they make zooms faster than 2.8?
Faster than 2.8 Zoom ? There are 2 F2.0 zooms .. Zuiko 14-35 F2.0 and Zuiko 35-100 F2.0
I stand corrected. Although according to the marketing material. The Zukio was the "worlds first standard zoom featuring a f2.0 aperture".
One weird thing was that when it listed the 35mm equivelent on those lenses, it was a 2X ratio. Were the Olympus sensors smaller than Nikon DX sensors?
Willis I didnt mean to sound like I am reprimanding you! LOL sorry ...
The Olympus uses a smaller format than DX. its known by a weird name. Its called the Four Thirds format.
There are several SLR manufactures besides Olympus who uses this format. and yes its 1/4 the area
of the FX format (ie lens focal length X 2 for the same FOV)
heartyfisher - olympus is using 2x crop, therefor I guess they are able to produce a compact size f2.0 lens - it's much easier to produce such lenses once You don't need so much glass), canon is using 1.6,1.3,1.0 ASAIR, Nikon 1.5 and 1.0, sony 1.5 - please correct me guys if I'm wrong
Adamz .. I think thats is the logical argument in the past.. however especially for 1.5 crop sensors. I dont see the technical reason not to be able to make a 24-60 mm F2.0 zoom. the front element for a 60mm F2.0 lens must be at least 30mm so its well withing the size limits of a 52 mm standard filter size.. even if you need to go to 62 or 67 mm due to design constraints .. I think that is more than feasible. !
and the longer end ?? what about a 50-120 F2.0 ? the front element will need to be at least 60mm so a 72 mm or 77 mm or even 82mm front filter size could be posible ??
OI SIGMA ! NIKON ! READ THIS AND MAKE ME ONE ! It would be real nice if they were VR too! The problem is .. and that is probably the main reason that they are not being made .. is that they will probable cost a few $$$ !!! But they sure would bring the DX line some prestige !
