Really amazing Tao! I fear I'll never produce images that are stunning, like these. I'm technically proficient, but I don't think my eye sees things a good photographer sees and to me that's the talent behind the machine. Which makes the machine much less important. You see things in a unique way and your pictures reflect that vision so well...

Just shoot a lot. Eventually you come across something. :D

Not to mean that you shouldn't savor every shot, it's just that you learn a lot of the intricacies, what you like to shoot, etc.

According to flickr this one is my best, so we'll go with that:

For me, for how nice it turned out and how much fun it was shooting it, it would have been this one, though: http://www.flickr.com/photos/squamishphoto/5052881482/in/set-72157626557092086/lightbox/

    Thank you!

Like NSXType-R said keep taking photos. It's not that I took 3000 of the same thing to get that one. It's that I've gone out 3000 (or who knows how many) times and noted what worked and what didn't.

    Hi all,

Great photos and a great topic.

My idea is that the question tells more about ourselves than it does our pictures, though. I think my best photo is of my little girl when she was 3 with a BandAid on her nose with her eyeglasses and she was in her Easter Dress with her purse. She was adorable, but she wouldn't agree.

That was taken a long time ago, too. My grandchildren are older than that, and the point is that you would think that one's ability would improve over time (and I think it does).

With the exceptions that come to those who work in the moment of news, you create your own opportunities of scene. You don't take a picture, you make it.

Here is one from the last year, and I have one or two from last week, or yesterday, too. Keep shooting!

    My best,

    Mike

I like the one of the benches. The color version.

    Hi TC,

Thanks, but first of all, Dusty deserves the credit. He is a rich character study. It's hard not to make a great photo with him as the subject, but then the challenge is to really make it worth his time and engage the audience.

    My best,

    Mike

I actually sold a print of this one to a Navajo community near Monument Valley last summer. I believe it is up in their information center now so I was quite pleased. I'd like to visit them again in the next few months actually. Love this entire area like many others do.
