Ive always respected dpreview, but this time Mr Askey just forgot that this is a rumor site, and as a rumor site doesn't need to have signed NDA. To only one thing I don't understand is what he has against Mongolia, ok it's a wild country (mostly) but still... anyway, if You want to see some images from Mongolia here's the link to some pictures from Mongolia taken by polish photographer Tomasz Gudzowaty (who won World Press Photo for his Mongolian pictures)
I think PA was way out of line too. He gets to play with UNANNOUNCED and UNRELEASED cameras so if I were him there's no way ANYONE could upset me if they start a rumor about something I already had in my hands. I'd be enjoying all the speculation and laughing it up with how wrong everyone's guess was! ON TOP of that I'd be a MILLIONAIRE for having sold my website to a large company. (A company like maybe amazon?)
Like I said I think admin and PA should have a beer summit. They can come to my house and I will host them in my garden if Obama is too bizzy.
Beautiful Pictures and Beautiful People adamz. Thanks for the link.
It sounded like he was being critical of Engadget (Who presumably is also subject to the same NDA's as DPR) can report on what is posted here.
I think that is a valid point. I posted previously that it was stupid for Nikon to hold a press event and then subject them to an NDA. Your setting yourself up for a leak if you tell the press in advance of when you publish your press release. It's OK if web-sites have to take 10 min to cut and paste the specs into a canned press release article.
As for Nikon Rumors, I ran a trace route and they are actually located in outer mongolia (which explains a lot actually), so I don't see what the uproar is about. Just kidding Admin. You do good work!
So, someone leaked something early and they got chastised for it?
Am I getting this right? Because I'm pretty confused.
Engadget linked up the Nikon Rumors (AKA Joe Blog in Outer Mongolia) story on the Projector Cam. Presumably both Engadget and DP Review got prototypes from Nikon to play with, and thus were subject to an NDA. DP Review is pissed because Engadget linked the rumor they new was true and in the process, scooped DP Review who knew about it but didn't post it.
Of course the real villan here is that French Magazine who leaked it in the first place.
Lucky for us, Admin doesn't sign NDA's :)
Thanks for the support. You got to love that:
LOL!
btw Adamz, those are great pictures from Mongolia.
Ha Ha good one Admin. I saw that too. My offer for a beer summit between Nikonrumors and dpreview still stands.
For beer summit, I am always ready...
just placed the location and time, some time in the future, so I could get a good deal on a ticket :)
A great gallery of images from the two Mongolias.
