    Hello all,

Looking for a suggestion from you folks. I have a d7K + 35mm f1.8 + 85mm f3.5 (macro DX). Have been pretty happy with 35mm prime, 85mm has been fantastic during day lights and not have been very useful in nights for portraits (though it might not be intended to use that way).

I'm thinking to replace 85mm nikkor with a telephoto macro lens (f2.8 if available). Is this a better way to go or should I have telephoto and macro lens separate? Is there such a lens to fit the bill?

I was thinking about nikkor 80-200 f2.8 for telephoto and not sure if it could do macro.

    Thanks.

well, how much money do you want to spend?

i agree a 2.8 is a good choice, or even better, another 1.8.

the 80-200 will not do "macro". i'm not sure exactly what ratio counts as macro, but nikon calls it greater that 1:1, hense the nikon macro lenses are called micro.

If you put an extension tube on an 80-200 it will focus much closer. many people do this to get some pretty good macro shots.

given your current glass, i would say that this would be a pretty good idea.
