Floods in Thailand engulfed another industrial estate Sunday, anyone know if the Nikon factories have been affected.
if so, then we could expect more delays and prices to stay high.
where there’s smoke there’s forum fire

Yes, yes, and yes

chastised is the right word,
I also thought it would be interesting to have people comment on this as so many people are waiting on the new equipment and it would affect all.
not a rumor, but an event/fact that will push the price of Nikon equipment new and used sky high.
on ebay and craigslist people are starting to ask more for used equipment than the price on Amazon.
new equipment on ebay is climbing above MSRP
madness
It is INSANE to pay nearly full retail for a used item. No warranty on a used item. If it is not 20% less than retail I am not interested as I want a warranty if I am paying nearly new pricing.

It would be hard to say this is the cause. Makes one wonder if that is part of the reason Nikon is clamping down on prices to prevent non-authorized sellers from gouging just as much as undercutting. I have seen this happen with other industries after the earthquake. I haven't seen any real increase in prices except for companies raining in prices that Nikon as made them keep. MSRP will be the new norm and deals on new lenses will dry up. Ebay is always filled with overpriced lenses some even double - that is nothing new. I haven't seen used stuff going anything outside the "normal" range. Not many going on the low end though.
In the US not many new outlets have touched on the flooding so there isn't any real "Nikon" panic that I have seen here.
I went to our local camera store to buy a D7000 today. They said they were out and didn't know how soon they would be getting any because of the floods in Thailand. Walmart still has them so I'll be ordering from them.
I'm not chastising anyone. Just pointing out that the information has been on the "front page". I am really surprised at how many of you don't read the main blog.
Full frame cameras "were" made in Japan. Although production could have been moved to Thailand, I doubt it. The D800 might be being made in China or Malaysia. Those floods are going to severly disrupt the supply of new D7000 and lower cameras.
I go right to the forum page myself.
The prices of a Nikon D7000 in januari 2012 in the netherlands cost 33% more than in summertime 2011. I did like to buy one but not for a price like this. I hope the production facility will be running soon. Maybe we (the dutch) can send some help. We are fighting the water as long is a can remember
