Hey heartyfisher, anytime my friend! You must be very rich to keep getting the "rich man's disease" :^) I hope you get well soon. We photographers do in fact see the world quite differently than others. That is why I enjoy photography so much. It's looking at things in a way that others never thought of seeing.

CooperS thanks for finally posting here. Welcome to the forum. Was that an image from this weekend's X-fighters show? I'd love to see more. Hey don't worry about that dust on your mirror. It's the first of many ! Keep us up to date on how your enjoying the new D700.

fraew I enjoy your concert series. I like the idea of a "non-protest" too. Try adding some noise grain to that image and I bet you can pass it off as a late 70's early 80's film print. What does the banner say anyway? It's a cliff hanger for me...."Everything is going to be.." what man tell me I need to know? :)

NikoDoby, yeh hope the dust will just blow off its pretty big. I did the opposite to what had been advised by spending most of my money on the d700. I got the 50mm 1.4 and a crap/cheap 70-300 without the VR which I used this saturday at the Red Bull X-Fighters. However amongst some of the many out of focus pics there were some half decent ones. I know I should have spent/invested in decent glass, but I wanted an FX base to start on as I love wide angle! Too bad I dont have a wide lens yet. Kind of seems a bit odd the way I've done this reading back on it! Anyway you wanted another pic, So...

CooperS don't worry about what you should have gotten. You have a great camera and just use what you have now. Enjoy it and don't think about the gear so much. It's your skills as a photog that makes the picture. Could you have used a monopod with the 70-300? You should sneak one in next time. It will really help you get sharper focus at that distance. Your second picture reminds me of my wife's driving :^) *I'm kidding honey*

drkbl thanks. It's not easy photographing a hyper little dog. I bet that helmet in your shot weighs a lot ! You must be married too :^)

fraew thanks for finishing the sentence on the banner. Just wanted to make sure, "everythings going to be fine".

Monty11 is that an airplane in the lower left by the chimney? Or did you catch a falling star?

I can't be sure if it is a falling star though that night was the peak time of the Perseid meteor shower so it very well could be.

Nikodoby, very interested in the me and you remark. Your sense of humor is great. She's not much of a forum goer and she can be rather hot and cold at times. She's cool because like me, she's into wildlife. She did send me one butterfly pic I can share with you tomorrow as I've already done my photo for the day.

Don't get me wrong, this girl is really cool compared to the other girl who I think change her mind about me using her pics so I will need to take them down soon. It's a shame because I got two really nice ones of her with the 35mm1.8 The other girl didn't mind me putting them on myspace or my gallery as I have those albums locked but I think she found out about this forum. Not surprising considering I remember someone mentioning that they though they knew her.

Anyway I'm rambling now, enough from me.

You need to pass out more of those Nikon "cookies" and snap those girlies back inline with their picture taking selves. Don't let'em step all over you Gentoo ! Lay down the copyright law on them and tell'em, look here little ladies, these are my pictures and I can put'em where ever I want, whenever I want, and there ain't nothing you gonna do about it! Show them they need to respect a man's authority Gentoo !

For me it is too out of focus. If the background were a blurring green hill or a darker green forest, then it might work in an artistic kind of way but at the moment the clutter is ruining the shot for me, for some reason my eyes are being led to that something at the bottom of the frame.
I think here you could have opted for a much more open aperture, perhaps 8 or 7.1. You are really pushing it with the the current shutter speed at this focal length.
