Something from the first air show I tried shooting, this weekend in Toronto:

The A-10 later gave me an advanced lesson in fast zooming by flying right over my head. I missed it coming and going. >.<

Took this tonight. Just got the shot as the porch light scared him off. This explains why the cat is always so damned hungry...

Bland, is that Michelle Wie? Excellent photo, colors, scenery, and DOF.

Accidental 4.4 second exposure, as a result of having a salamander fall in my lap first thing in the morning after doing long exposure shots the prior night. Exposure cranked down as far as Lightroom would let me, and a blank white image turned into this!

This was the first pic on an ancient roll of film that came with a Nikon FG I bought off Craig's List.
Tossed the negs in an Epson 1660 flatbed scanner with no expectations (or much care, hence all the dust...)I like how it came out though.

From a dance recital earlier this year. Good example of sharpness of the D7000 with the DX Nikkor 35mm F1.8 G @ f/5.0 ISO 800

Great shot! I have never been lucky enough to catch an A-10. Some things I have learned about shooting aircraft; set your camera to continous servo, shutter priority with the speed at 1/2500+ for jets, and 1/250-1/400 prop driven, at least 300mm and preferably more. Zooms are nice but not necessary. Shoot with back to sun if possible.

Nice work guys (girls?).

3 shots pano. Another crazy-colored Spaniar lake. The water color has not been doctored, in real it was even greener and deeper.Posted 1 year ago # -

Another shot at the crazy lake. On this one, the color of the water is closer to reality. I have no idea what kind of mineral is in suspension but it is apparently natural as this was basically in the middle of nowhere with no industries in sight and just a few houses.
The lake has been drying out which may concentrate what-ever is in it. Many were swinmming but I found the water had a slight swamp smell so swimming was not for me. They are extracting a bit of electricity out of it and you can see the dam.Posted 1 year ago # -

So who says you need a 600mm F4 VR for wildlife photography, when you can get some decent shots with the 24-70mm at 70mm?
