Samsung just announced the mirrorless NX200 with a 20 megapixel sensor. Any one know where this sensor comes from and might it be something we'll see in the D400 or D3200?

They make their own sensors - there are already a ton of threads on the D400 sensor if you are looking for answers there.
D3200? 3100 was just released.

Sigh!!! Admin posted a few days ago that the next DSLR announcement would probably be an update to an existing model. The D3000 was replaced after a year by the D3100 and guess what? the D3100 is a year old already. Also some of the announcement invitations have an unkown DSLR camera silhouette with an 18-55mm lens on it. A D400 or D800 wouldn't be announced with such a kit lens now would it?
As for the D400 where is it written Nikon can't use a Samsung sensor?

3100 was two years, same as the 5100 and d7000. This is their normal cycle (give or take a couple of months) for the last 8-10 years. Consumer = 2 yr cycle, Pro-sumer = 3-4 year cycle, Pro 4 year cycles for the next generation.
Why on earth would Nikon all of a sudden use Samsung sensors when even the Sony one's are better and they have and seem to be continuing using some of their designs and using some of their facilities to make Nikon designed sensors?
Do you have any examples of the announcements? There have just been general ones I have seen or ones from various non-release events. Nothing unusual about that.

Wrong Einstein! Like always... do your own research. The D3000 was announced in summer of 2009. The D3100 was announced in August 2010. You can look up the invitation flyer yourself.
If Sony sensors are so great then why don't the D700, D3s, or D3100 have them?

and sony has a 24 mega that is already in their cameras.
seems that is where we are headed

Nikon hasn't put a Sony sensor in all of their dslrs so we can't assume the next camera will have the nex 7 24mp

Nikon did put a sony in their last DSLR the D5100 and the one before that the D7000

Well as stated the D3s, D700, and D3100 have proprietary sensors so you never know but I'm pretty positive it'll be a sony. However if they use the 24mpx sensor it may not be a surprise, but it will be a first for nikon as their prosumer (top consumer bottom pro) bodies have always shared a sensor D100/D70(s) 6.1mpx, D200/D80 10mpx, D90/D300(s) 12.4mpx...
The problem is that the D7000 seems to have over leaped with the leapfrog effect nikon's mid-range bodies seem to have (The top consumer sometimes bettering than the bottom pro in some areas making up for the lack in controls) so it would only be smart to really put the D400 up with the a77 in terms of base specs, as only putting 2 buttons and a few more crosstypes wouldn't be enough to sell a D400. Also the overhyped Canon 7D was received well and the mkII version of that may or may not be a flop depending on how canon plays their cards so Im sure nikon is anticipating that too...

You are the one attack me for no reason. But I will just ignore you since you claim to be on menopause medication. Good luck with that.
So now that the old lady has been given her menopause pills and sent to bed.... The megapixel race is far from over. This new 20mp sensor sounds interesting on paper. The NX200 is shoots at 7fps and has 1080HD. why wouldn't Nikon look into this sensor, if they haven't already?

I have to agree with the others about the 24mp Sony sensor. Combine that with this rumored Expeed 3 processor and i would be a very happy camper. I don't think we will have to wait very long to discover the truth though.
