D700 shutter issue when using SB-900 with PW triggers

NR,

I've noticed this for awhile, but never tried to remedy it until now. When I use my D700 and use the SB-900 as a off camera flash triggered by pocket wizards, the first shot always catches the shutter curtain in the shot. Like 70% of the shot is blocked because of it. I take the next photo, same setting, same everything and the photo comes out normal, as expected.

I know sync speeds and all, obviously it's not that since the 2nd photo is fine, but the first always comes out blocked by the shutter curtain. Weird right?

Any ideas or suggestions??

What type of PW's are you using? Have you emailed the EXCELLENT customer service department with your problem? Any time I've had an issue they've resolved it in 24hrs.

I'm using PW Plus II. I have not emailed customer service, I guess I just assumed it was an issue with the camera and not the PW.

Sorry, can't speak from experience on 'plus II's' as I use flex and minis, but definately recommend that you contact PW.

I have exactly the same problem, except that I use D7000 + SB 900 (x3) and Hähnel Combi TF combination. I just don't get it, what could be the reason?

Now when I think about it. In my case it could very well be on the remotes, since usually at least one of the flashes has fired. But it only happens on the first frame...

I have the mini and flex and have similar issue with d3s, but that's what the manual says, the first shot is used for self calibration. Maybe that's an issue with PW Plus II too.
