Transitioning from a Nikon D50 to a Nikon D7000. Still learning. While shooting with the D50 in
Program Mode I was able to adjust my center focus point by depressing the shutter 1/2 way and
then depressing the multi sector (right/left/up/down) to the desired focal point. How can I perform
this same function while in P mode on the D7000? Thanks in advance and please pardon my ignorance.

(This may depend on how you have customized your D7000.)It takes a while till you get used to the multiple points. I have migrated from a D70s to the D7000 and it was worth :)

It's almost the same way but you don't have to press the shutter half way first. Actually if you do press the shutter first, it won't change the AF point. This works in pretty much all of the AF (AF-A, AF-S and AF-C) modes except for auto-point AF.
