I was thinking today of what is most likely to be included in the D800/D4 release that is expected later this month which also brought me to what I don't think will be included that I would really like to see...
- Integrated WiFi
I wouldn't be surprised to see this on the D4, not likely on the D800 but if I had to guess it won't be included in either. That's a shame as moving images directly out of the camera and onto a 3rd party storage device, be it an iPad, computer, etc would be a very nice addition.
- USB 3.0
This may make the cut, but I've not heard much on this spec. As MP counts grow as well as shooting in 14-bit RAW, files sizes baloon and it would be nice to have transfer rates in the camera support the faster spec; especially since the next upgrade for these cams won't likely come for 2-3 years.
- Articulated LCD
Not a deal breaker, but a nice feature that I really wish would find it's way on more cameras. They got it right with the 5100 and Canon with the 60D. This should be on the D800 at the least. Pro's may not care.
- 720p/60fps
This should be included in the next video release
- AVCHD low compression scheme
Nikon ought to really try and overjump the Canon folks here and allow a higher bit rate encoding to their AVCHD compression algorithms. I'd like to see really high quality video come out of these new cams.
- Built in radio transmitter that can process TTL signals.
Nikon would make a fortune if they could get out of the optical triggering and into the radio triggering with TTL signals passing through. At the very least, if this isn't included in the release, come up with an addon. Pocketwizzard evidently hasn't been able to get this quite right just yet.
My two cents.. what do you think?
