is there a flower style lens hood out there for this ? if so where can i get it? i also need a flower style for my 55-200mm lens , any help appreciated!

You could buy square or flower type 52mm filter thread one and use it on both lenses.

My 35mm came with a round lens hood. Won't that work for you?

I guess because the hood is too shallow for him?
Is lens flare a big issue for it?

just cut it out either from cupboard (or thick paper) and attache it to Your current lens hood by tape

There are lots of 52mm lens hoods on Ebay that are longer or different shapes than the one that came with your lens.
Make your self an app 6" by 6" reflector for your flash. White one side and black on the other, then use this to also give you more shade for your lenses when needed
